I didn't hunt the swamp last year due to the rule changes and becoming mostly muzzy but was thinking of trying it again this year.

My only concern is with the die off from last winter so many have spoke of how long do you think before the numbers will be back up to somewhat normal?

Mark,
If you listen to some EHD or Blue tounge was all over the place and THAT and the limited EAB was the reason the whole deer harvest was down last year NOT because of the amount of deer being killed during the shotgun season running into Febuary for the last few years.
I just wonder why we didn't smell these thousands of dead deer last year.

I beg to differ.  I hunted the same stands as the previous year and saw a dramatic drop off with deer sightings than the previous year.  In fact, the previous season I seen the most deer ever in one season.

Hi HerdBuck

I, also, was stung with the muzzy regulation last year. And I've been hunting the eastern end of the swamp since the protest days.

Talk with Craig

I have a friend who hunts some properties along the perimeter of the swamp and he is seeing less deer than normal and also said he's "heard" BTD has taken another hit on the deer in that area.

I'll be back in the Swamp this year after taking last year off so we'll see in 6 weeks.  I think the herd in general is down and the BTD didn't help any.

If I get nothing this year, that'll be 3 hunting years in the last 4 that I saw and shot nothing.

On a positive note I have a  friend that lives maybe 3 miles from the swamp and his neighborhood is overrun with deer in every yard, a lot of wetlands in his area if that helps the bugs that spread it they didn't bother his herd.
