Do you have any information about ducks hunting in Wallkill River NWR? On Refuge map it seems a swampy area around Wallkill river. Thanks in advance.

I've hunted it in the past.  You need to pay a small fee to use the land.

I think it is $20.  I paid for it about 4 years ago and then never made it there to hunt

A little too far for me to travel, but some guys that I know say it's just like anything else. It's hit or miss if it's not to far from you I would take a ride up and check it out and speak with the rangers.

I have hunted most of the water on the refuge for about four years. The old RR tracks off of kelly Rd is a good place to start. There is a old beaver pond that is a good place to gun geese in the early season. You will get woodies and teal up and down the river for the most part. As with everything in NJ, hunt the week days if you don't want skybusters or guys setting up down wind of you. Most of the area worth hunting is somewhat of a hike. I carry my waders in a pack along with a couple of decoys.

I tried hunting the refuge a couple years every time i went there was guys in the spot i wanted two go. When they werent in my spot there would be skybusters around me.Rangers check on guys alot. Some ducks not worth 20 dollars i stick with small swamps and going to the shore.
