tklurfancy - what would you hunt with in NJ if you could use anything? A shotgun, a muzzleloader, a bow, or a crossbow? __________________ Camp Gabadeer Pro Staff

I just came up with this idea for you now.
Join the NJUB and get a FID card then you can submit an application and hunt monster buck woods the same as the residents that have does behind each tree

My friend and I both hold disabled licenses for Crossbow in MA and CT. So we will have to apply down there for such. The youngster will be Compound Bow.
Why do you ask? Phil |

With the 270 that you and your son are going to pay for your non resident licenses you can buy a lot of meat in Massachusetts. I hunt in NJ because I feel NJ has overall better genetics than PA. Too many runt bucks in PA. 270 dollars is a lot of meat.![]() __________________ No matter what happens, whether you succeed or not, if you stand up and do it right and pay attention, hunting will always give you what you need. Why do you ask? There are rumors that crossbows will be introduced into New Jersey's archery season in the future and it has created quite the uproar among some Jersey bowhunters. Just wondering how you feel about crossbows... __________________ Camp Gabadeer Pro Staff

Being that he's disabled he can legally already use a crossbow and hunt from a parked vehicle. __________________ No matter what happens, whether you succeed or not, if you stand up and do it right and pay attention, hunting will always give you what you need. Hate to tell you but I qualify for being disabled as well both mentally and physically![]() ![]()
I really mean this too ![]()
I could get a crossbow but have been fighting it personally and trying to hold out as long as I physically can. Why fight about the xbows or even worry about them. |

| I agree with Cat, myself. I bought a Mathews Drenalin last year with all the extras for $1200. This spring I couldn't get it to the cam. I backed off my back-up bow to minimum weight 50# and couldn't get that back either. I would much rather hunt with a compound but don't want to sacrifice the season waiting for a Dr. to try and come up with a solution. The orthopedic surgeon told me that it will never be right again. So maybe NJ officials will tell me I'll have to use a 35# bow., on that I'll pass. I don't think it's quite adequate for deer and not fair to them. | ||

NJ does NOT make it difficult to get a permit to use a crossbow. __________________ "To be unarmed and therefore helpless in the face of evil is irresponsible and in fact complicit to said evil. Ought oh now I'm getting a new name Crazy Cat. I hinda like it![]()
It sucks getting older and I really don't like the thought of having to consider xbows myself but I can only fight the fact I might have to get one so long or give up. I have noticed other guys lately going down in bow weights and that thought just rocks me.
Yeah you go to the surgen and they want to fix up all model A's but when you go to the heart Dr. he can't just put a freash 350 chevy in the engine room. ![]()

tklurfancy, I wasn't saying Mass hunters are bad, just the fact that you are from there reminded me of that story. There are bad hunters from all over. I've had to deal with my share of Jersey slobs. __________________ NRA Life Member

If you're looking for farmland type terrain this is the Bear Creek property, just north of the highway
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=jenn ... That's where I'm going to be opening day muzzy season - when I was scouting last year there weren't too many bowhunters out there on that piece. There's plenty of public land to hunt in NJ, a lot of it is crowded but if your're willing to put in some time scouting you can get a piece to call your own. __________________ Please don't shoot my avatar.

bwd172,
No offense taken! In General, Mass hunters are plagued by the stereotype that our stubborn obnoxious politicians reflect. But, in general, most hunters are good guys, always willing to help each other. Of course, there are the few that spoil the bushel..... Cheers! Phil |
