Eastbound right before Exit 27 on the left hand side. It was upside down in the cut grass. Small guy, about 200lbs. I was going way to fast for a pic.

The Star Ledger

Bear killed in crash with motorcyclist
Thursday, June 26, 2008 (page 11, first section of the paper)
An unidentified motorcyclist was injured when he struck a bear cub last night on Route 80 in Morris County, State Police said. The bear was killed.
The accident occurred at 9:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Exit 26 in Mount Olive, trooper Tony Kim of the State Police barracks at Netcong said.
State Police estimated the bear's weight at 100 pounds.
The condition of the motorcyclist was not known, but he was talking after the accident, Kim said.
The left lane of the highway was closed for about 30 minutes after the accident, he added.

This is my only problem with this article. They make it sound like the bear was itty bitty. At 200lbs. thats still a big bear for any type of crash. When a cub leaves its mother it is no longer a cub and at 200lbs. it was last years bear or even the year before depending on nutrition.......just my 2cents.

The article said estimated weight was 100 lbs. Even that would make it last years cub.
