my dad just called me with some great news. he was out and about tonight . he thought he spotted some horns in the distance and indeed he did. 5 very nice sized bucks. they had to be for him to call. you no how you older guys are. nothing really fires you up much anymore, so IT GETS BETTER as he was turning around he looked into the other field and he said he was in shock!!!! 2 monster sized Rack bucks were looking right at him at about 40 yards. He said there were way out past the ears already and had supre high tines with alot of mass. you got tot understand my dad is all about rack hunting in this part of his life. he wants only big 8s and up. He has hunted maine a long time and compaired these 2 gians to a maine deer. There has been a few heavy hitters in this area for a few years. im sure its them again. i will be heading down the next few night to catch a look. oh man im getting that feeling again.still a little early for them to big monsters but last year was the same thing. __________________ Braque Francais Coming To A Field Near You !

| Nothing like seeing some bucks to get you fired up. However, history has proven for me that seeing bucks in June, July and August...although exciting, sometimes ends up being disappointed. You see these bachelor groups moving about and then when hunting season comes along they are very difficult to locate. | ||

Some things are out of your control, such has natural habitat..But food and doe are a MUST !! And usually, they are so descreet, you wont see all of them again until next summer. __________________ When a gun-hunter sees the animal he wants- the hunts over. I completely respect your tactics !! Get out there and have fun WITH nature. Sometimes hunting is stressful to me. Is that buck mature, should we pass him ? Should I plant clover or brassica ? This stand needs to be 50yards to the West, that stand needs to be 5 feet higher. That stand is only good on a South wind, that one is only good on a Northeast...BLAH !! How many doe do we need to harvest on this piece ? Is the cameraman on him ? Did you check all of the cameras batteries ? Did you post every 20yards ? Have you caught any trespassers ? Are all FORTY stands still there ? Man, it gets like a job. You, my friend, are the epitomy of what a hunter SHOULD BE !! Keep up the good work ! ![]() __________________ When a gun-hunter sees the animal he wants- the hunts over. When a bow-hunter sees the animal he wants, the hunt is just begining !

my dad use to smoke. i think every buck he shot he was reading his ww2 book and smoking a butt. All of our 2 stands are about 5 to 6 ft off the ground. perfect enough to see over the brush. We are not big doe hunters at all. Dad and i are looking for rack bucks for sure. However i have caught a few tresspassers in the past few years. As for the cameraman man stuff i dont know. I will find out this season. I hooked up with a group and im going to be filming a hunting a bit this season with them. And as for the 40 stands. My dad would choke me. He hamers me if i even think about putting more then 2 in. Be honast with ya. The past few years my dad and i really love to deer hunt from the ground. A milk crate and we ready for the day. We dont come out. Sun up to sun down. I love my dad and love the way he taught me to hunt. I cant wait to share it with a kid one day.

Hunting from the ground is very satifying. I also learned to first hunt from the ground as until my teens I was a fat kid and afraid of treestands.
Treestand hunting gives you a clear advantage but sometimes it's just nice to kill a deer from the ground. My uncle does most of his hunting from the ground and manages to kill a decent buck every year. It can be done from the ground consistantly you just have to really dot your i's and cross your t's. Details are very important. We had a family member that used to kill a buck every year during buck week in NY. He's now passed on. He never wore camo and he always smoked on stand and hunted from the ground. Something to be said about that. __________________ EAT SLEEP HUNT Make your dreams a reality. Take a kid hunting. Stagg. Sun up to sun down increases your odds exponentially. Especially during the rut. I often bring some magazines or my psp and throw in Cabelas big game hunter to pass the time when the activity is slow. You never know when ole mossy horns his going to poke his head out through the brush. __________________ EAT SLEEP HUNT Make your dreams a reality. Take a kid hunting.
