I know that some of you guys are up to your eyeballs in bears at this point (and wouldn't be anymore inclined to grab your camera to doccument the encounter that a suburbanite would be to grab a picture of a squirrel at the backyard birdfeeder).
Nonetheless, I thought it might be interesting, & sobering at the same time for the non-believers, to gather a running list of bear pictures from just this one year, around the Garden State. Just keep it simple, original pic(s) accompanied by a brief description of location, date, time, etc. Please don't republish newspaper articles or other news accounts. If you want to comment about any particular photo or encounter posted, just take it to a new thread. So, Who's first?... |

I hope this works. This bear came for a visit three weeks ago in Oakland. The same week I drove to New Brunswick for a bear hunt. __________________ Pro-baiter

This picture was taken off of lee's hill rd. in New Vernon on April 19th.
Two days prior the bear had been trapped an adversely conditioned but showed no fear of humans while hanging around on my Gf's back deck. __________________ NJOA

Does not necessarily have to be a pic of bear(s) in the act of "causing problems". I'm trying to compile what will amount to a photo journal showing NJ bears in places and activities that are not what would be considerered normal environments and/or situations for bears in a healthy, balanced wild population. |

My sister took one the other day from her blackberry of a sow and cubs on the side of the road. Cubs looked very small. Almost like little dogs. Resolution is very bad but if anybody's interested I will post it. West Milford Area __________________ EAT SLEEP HUNT Make your dreams a reality. Take a kid hunting. Sorry for the poor quality video... it was taken with a cell phone. This bear was in Washington Twp (Morris).

Here is a bear I walked up on in my back yard. I was less then 10' away when he stood up, then he just layed back down and ate my corn. I took a few pics and chased him away with my quad, even then he didnt really run away, he just kind of walked off. No fear of us at all!

Last night around 5 pm I was heading south on rt 23. I stopped to get gas at the exxon station in newfoundland.
As Im sitting there, everyone in the station starts to point across the street to dunkin doughnuts. There is a big black bear standing in the drive through looking in the window at the girl inside. Of course the dopes inside throw food out too him. So he sits right there and eats it. Then they decide to scare him off. Well ten minutes later he comes back for more. After a few minutes they scared him off again. All this time people are walking in and out of the place not more than 15 ft away ,and none of them seemed to notice. Its friggin scary how these bears are wandering around our towns. And worse yet that idiots are feeding them. __________________ UNITED BOW HUNTERS OF NEW JERSEY
