I've had one roosting right behind the house and gobbling nonstop all day for the past week. But during the season it was totally dead here!
Go figure!! ![]()

same here. only a few birds in the yard during season. but last weekend, every time a fire cracker went off the gobbler would sound. also the geese have been making a lot of noise on my stream. every honk gets a gobble, morning and afternoon. __________________ united bowhunters of nj

Of course they are Bob, I told you 13 of them were on ths state land the evening the season closed, like they somehow knew
Mike, I've been keeping my eyes peeled, looking . . . I'm determined to see some poults this year if I can pull myself away from the stripers now ![]() __________________ Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Diet Coke in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" - Maxine

Something very strange going on with the striper fishing this year. They were here a few weeks ago and now nobody can seem to find them. They'll pick up one or two among loads of blues, but they're just not in the bay. And there are several thoughts as to what's going on.
1) They're up in the Hudson spawning. 2) The water got too cold and they headed south and are down by Point Pleasant 3) They headed out into the ocean already. 4) We've already over fished them and have to wait for another body of bass to make their way into the bay. Some actually think there will be no real bass season this year. Bottom line is that nobody really knows what happened or what's going on, but there is no main body of bass fish in the Raritan Bay right now. It could change any day, or it could be over already. I've got to keep trying though. __________________ Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Diet Coke in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" - Maxine

I saw a ton of Tom's this past week in my travels around town. Sometimes 5 together at once. __________________ "from my cold dead hands"
