Thanks Miss Grit and all the best to you if you are heading out tomorrow as well. I am hoping to nail a longbeard on the last day. I arrowed a nice tom three days ago but believe it or not someone took off with him! A long story and I am just hoping to get a crack at one tomorrow.

Up & getting ready for the last day. Where has the season gone? I feel like a zombie from hunting 25 days of A,B,C,D,E weeks.

2008 turkey season is over now. Today started BAD! left the truck around 4:15 for a 35 min walk up the hill. Not 1/2 way across the 1st field my headhead burns out. I switched out the batteries but it was the bulb (no spare bulb used it duck season),FineI head up with the moonlight. get all set up & the DAM wind starts blowing. I could barely heard the crows let alone a Tom in the distance. 5:30 I start calling in the next hour I had 9 hens (singles & doubles) stroll by all within 30'. Two of them had beards. Ya think one group would of had a Tom in tow. Decide to move. Put my hand down to lift off the ground CRACK there goes the glass on my double-talker, Fine get out of there & head down the ridge. Locate a bird below me. Rush to a tree & lean my gun up, Pull the straps of my decoy bag off my shoulders. It hooks & tears the strap off my vest that hold the cushion
I get the bird to come up -- A JAKE! __________________ |

quick story went to the gap and at 8oclock had 3 hens and 2 longs coming across ole mine road they get to about 60 yrds and the one hen goes nuts and they all run back across ole minei see movement here comes a guy in an indiana jones hat with a chin string a pair of binoculars and one of those photographer cameras walking along the bottom wood edge he was taking closeups of wild flowers to add to his treehugger photo album __________________ i pay to hunt here....do you "pay to hike here"
CROSSBOWS are divisive....look whats happening to hunter unity if you cant answer some simple questions then its not that simple for me to donate to your cause "you know who you are" |
