Well, they came back to their roost after I set up under one of the toms yesterday. Even had a hen in the field in front of me for about 20 minutes this morning until she saw something about me she didn't like and started putting and walked off the field. When they came off their roost, they chattered and gobbled on the ground for a little while and then got quiet. After about a half an hour, I was able to get the toms to answer my calls and it even seemed like they were coming in at one point, then they stopped answering. I got myself ready, because that's what the last bird I shot did. He stopped answering and then just showed up. I waited and waited, but nothing. 45 minutes later, still nothing and no more answers to my calls.
Eventually moved to where the two jakes have been hung up and tried to entice them closer to where I can shoot one of them, but that didn't work either. __________________ Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Diet Coke in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" - Maxine

| Try some soft calling its the key this time of the year on hunted birds.Just some soft yelps, and some clucks and purrs.Try calling to the hens and work them in cuz mr long beard will follow. | ||
