Lock threads down, edit the title to include "closed for moderation" so we dont have to worry about new comments and more work popping up as we go. Once cleaned, the thread would be re-opened and a clear warning would be placed in bold in both the first post and last post...

So what repercussions are in place when someone threatens you via a PM or calls you an Ass___e, or a Di__Head, or uses profanity??

It happens every day...

The way Matty explained it is theres no time to handle this all that its a full time job to police the offenders and they know who they are who call names.

Ok I asked before who is the Sargent of arms???

There should me someone who keeps records of offending name calling and judgement passed to those who do. The rules don't get enforced so why have a rule?

Probation, repremand, Lock down and then parole board review that might leed to a parole?

Rebilitation? That could mean to be retaught manners?

You might take an indivigual out of a fight but you can't take the fight out of them?

Why anyone has to call a name when they don't get there woley pop is unkown to me?

guys,
i don't know why we go through the same things every week... week after week about how we are killing our sport etc...  most of us on here are all grown ups... lets all act our ages not argue over things and lead by example so that our younger generation of hunters can see what we all are about as a hunting community and family... lets just let this be and die and be all adults... we all fight over the same thing week after week and its terrible.. lets all act lie the adults we are again and just be able to go out have fun, teach youths about the outdoors, and be civil... its not hard...

There should be penalties in place to break them of the name calling.

Is there anything to gain by leaving threads like the "bear snare" thread up?

Yes some people were out of line to say bad things about trapping.  But if the non-hunter reads this thread about a bear stuck in a snare and then reads our comments.  Most of our comments were for concern for the bear.  This inturn shows that we hunters are a bunch of un sympathtic rednecks that have no soul.  We do care about the animals.

Our ultimate goal is for a one shot kill with as less suffering as possible.

Bear with the snare personally after reading most of our comments about the bears well being i think if anything it really help us hunters not look as bad as most of us the public precieves us.

have a link to "mark as innapprpiate" like the "send a PM"  The Mods can't read every post....understood.... but if an individual(s) mark certain posts by people using profanity or making attacks it would make their jobs easier

well if this thread or that thread has any fighting, the Mod's/Admin should deal with the poster... If He/she is braking a rule ( Example: ragging on another member...) by the rules should be banned.

Mysitc, I don't agree with this statement. I was the poster of the bear snare, I didn't say anything derrogative to anyone. Does this mean that I should be dealt with because I posted the article? I don't think this policy would work well.

He wasn't referring to you. "Poster" meaning the individual that was breaking a rule within the thread.

Now that I read your statement again, I think you meant the poster of a peron being derrogative to someone else. Not the poster of the article.

This leads me to another point, it's EASY to take something the wrong way when reading rather than talking to someone in person. I read many posts that I have to constantly re-read to see the different points of views.. Interesting..

There has been an increase in the amount of name-calling and inappropriate comments when a sensitive topic is posted. The crossbow thread is just an example.
Some people feel that instead pf posting something that could educate or provide insight into the subject, they post an insult to another member. There should be a system where warnings are issued when this does happen, Mods included.

Common sence and not nonsence or no sence should be used
Posted:  13 Mar 2008 9:28 AM
Controversy turning to name calling and profanity is when the thread should have been pulled, appears to be no follow up on rules that need to be enforced by the mods.

Spare the rod and spoil the child

This is why we older folk have to put up with the younger crap is because there wasn't evough leather to the butt action with some.

To much leather in the dungun stuff maybe and not enough standin up to streghten them out maybe?

I dont think people understand, at least I dont understand.

How do we as moderators "enforce a followup of the rules"?

I can pm you and ask you to stop, I can remove your thread, your post or edit its contents, but thats as far as it goes. I cant ban you, I cant lock you personally out of a topic, I cant drive to your house, punch you and tell you to stop. Well I can, but I'll need directions and a promise you dont hit back.

ALL we can do is remove the "nonsense". Which takes a long time, longer than it takes for more nonsense to be posted.

We cannot ban people if that is what you are implying. Only the administrator can.

We as outdoorsmen and women, are here to protect the values and traditions of outdoor sports  in our state.  To those that call them selves outdoorsmen and then go on to judge trapping as cruel, is very disheartening.  A thread like this shows the inexperience and misinformation that is out there among us.  Posting a picture, making a statement such as "this is cruel" with little or no information about the incident is irresponsible.  These kinds of posts shouldn't go up in the first place.  If you are going to take the time to put up a post, then first take the time to have the proper information about the post.  The different pictures were not even the same bear.  The original post looked more like it was off of a Anti website then a hunters website.  That's scary.  Did the snare thread teach anyone anything?  It taught me our sport is in trouble.

That's a good idea... a "flag for moderators" link or something like that

Hey Matty thats what email is all most other sites have an email address listed. I know we have the PM board but that is for a short message. You don't want anyone to send an email than don't make everyone have to look at your nonsenseical B.S.
There was a post today I would have sent an email to the guy if it were listed I looked first?
It's OK to disagree with someone. I think??

While I understand that it is impossible for you guys to read every post and determine whether it constitutes poor judgment. I have seen posts, as I know you all have, that were clearly personal attacks and meant to do nothing else but mock/insult another member.
If this is encountered, a PM warning or even editing the post and marking it as a violation would be well with your control.
Please don't take this as criticism; we all appreciate the work you guys do. But there are times that this “nonsense” is taking away from what this site can potentially be.

Theres many mature outdoorsmen on this site with as many if not more inmature button bucks.

There has been a number of good men that have left this site because of the BS nonsence that goes on here perioud!

Some do stir the pot and I'm one that gets bored with air sometimes.

Calling names is unexceptable perioud and it dictates to me the condition of your heart when you call a name. If you can't rebait a thread proffesionally then rebait in some other pond.

I don't beleive half the BS that gets told to us what can or can't be done. Stand on the truth and stand up like men or stay in little boys pants then.

When a rule is broken in the real world if you get caught then theres a price to pay. To many do gooders waters the wine so I don't like watered wine.

I need the full forment and so should you. Wait a minute let me check with my supervisor?

Hold on now the supervisor could be younger than you with less sence?

Abandon ship no one knows how to fight the fire?

Meanwhile the cabin boy pees on it and extigushishs the fire because the rest said not my job mon?

He oh stands for the right way walks with Giants

WE ARE LOSSING MEMBERS AND HAVE LOST A NUMBER OF GOOD ONES BECAUSE OF IT

Why do I have to be the messenger because some where I know I'm going to get shot at. You better use a siver bullet in my heart and that is if you can find it?

Just one dear member today mentioned they had one foot out the door?

I personally like reading his stuff and reconize who he is in the sport.

Theres others you don't see anymore who left quietly and feel off the face of posting, so why?

If you don't start cleaning up the name calling then your no better than the ones who call the names because your an enabler?

Enabling will cause you trouble in life.

Only suggestions not attacks and you have to stand a lone sometimes when what you say is unpopulair.

Since I'm not running of office then I don't have to Hilery you.
