went for a ride this am in the fresh snow, found more coyote tracks then deer tracks crossing the sand roads through the pines, I'm going to set my self up with some preadator gear this summer and try it out next season, maybe even try trapping.

I believe they take down more turkeys through out the yr than deer. Most deer are taken down in the spring = fawns. On another site it was mentioned of a guy finding a spring den and set up a camera. heres what he said...

Quote:
met a guy roadin his pointer sunday in the pines - we talked dogs and things for a while - when he says not too many deer around - then he tells me about being at cabelas and talkin about yotes to a guy- the man said last yr he found a yote den in pa and put a trail camera on it --
IN 30 DAYS THE DOG AND BITCH BROUGHT 24 FAWNS TO THE DEN -
THEN HE CALLED A FRIEND IN NY IN THEIR F& G DEPT AND THEY HAD ALMOST THE SAME FINDINGS

kill em all. this state dont know how to manage. yotes should be year round.too many in the pines.when the state burns off the undergrowth next month the deer will be herded up on the strips and fields from the new growth feeding heavily and those damn yotes put a pounce on them.

Hey GG did you get a weight on that yote?? Looks like a close contender to the elusive "50 lber"

I weighed him on a spring type scale (which I don't trust) at 48 lbs.

Is that a Dog Whats that leash around his neck

You gotta love when an animal puts a leash on itself

I just hung a few more tonight. My main objective is to get an animal in one before the season ends. I had one (coon?) escape on me on a crossover and over the weekend 3 snares fired but nothing in them. One was a briiliant rookie mistake by not having my support wire completly steady. But I will get something before the end. I'll take a grinner at this point.

Oh btw nice size dog even if the scale fluctuated a couple either way What did you anchor off to? I see no extension cable?

They are pretty fierce.  I had the pleasure of dispatching my first last week.  Damn thing wanted to eat my gun barrel.  I was nervous to say the least.
