Fixed Broadheads or Retractable Blades

What ever can go wrong will go wrong and will go wrong more often in an uncontrolled situation.
No one has ever had a situation where a simple fixed blade cut on contact head did not do its job.
Fixed blade heads are best.

I SHOULD'VE SAID....EXPANDABLE!!!!
G5 huh?
I've heard of expandables not opening, but when I inspected the ones I had.I don't see how they couldn't open up.Looks like they'd open while projecting, almost.
(finally I got a avatar, can't get it to animate tho)

Agreed....

I posted this in another thread but I will copy it here.  These are my favorite fixed blade heads

I shot most of the deer I shot this year with NAP HellRazors.  They are real nice heads and are the sharpest one peice head you can buy.
http://www.bowhunting.net/artman/uploads/nap-hellrazor-125-on-shaft.jpg

I shoot NAP RazorCaps with my Recurve, and still shoot them on my compound sometimes.  2 years ago I shot 4 deer and a bear with the same RazorCap

I also like a lot of the heads Simmons make.  I have had alot of sucess with the Simmons RazorShark.  I took a bunch of deer with that head last season and it tears a REAL nice hole.  The main blades are very thick which makes them real strong.  Great Head

G5 Striker are also one of my favorites  Cut on contact with REAL sharp replaceable blades.  I hit a doe with one this season and I unfortunately hit her a little far back.  The exit was on the bottom of her belly and literally, her guts fell out  She went 10 yards and died....

I like the G5 Montec Broad head. It's all one piece so there's nothing to come loose and rattle on the shot. Killed two deer with it before I left for school. '06 season. They shoot great for me..real steady arrow flight and exelent penitration. Pass thu's on both deer. and both fell with in sight.

Brother shot a deer(with the rifle) in NY a few years back and it had an "Unexpanded" expandable under the skin. Since then only fixed blades.

i could not have said it better myself, this year i tried the rage broadheads and when they worked all i can say is wow, but i had one open in flight and it cost me a great buck had i been shooting my normal razorcaps i am sure the results would have different.  I posted this before and all the guys that defend expandables told me, well you should have checked the blades,or you must not of snapped them in right blah blah blah, bottom line are they worth all that trouble when all you have to do with a fixed blade is shoot.

fact of the matter is I dont need to re-adjust my sights when using the Grim reapers they shoot as strait as a field point open or closed>. Fixed dont, wind is a big factor with fixed blades

I was a muzzy man for many years and still think they are a dynamite head but never could tune them perfectly.Went to the rage 2 broadhead this year and am sold on them.Fly as true as the field point and the cutting diameter is devestating.

I'm sure that everyone has thier personal likes and dislikes, but I've used the Jak hammers with great success.  They are expandables.

I was using rage heads. Switched to Magnus, fly great and go through bone not like the rage heads
Posted:  13 Feb 2008 7:08 PM
GRIM REAPERS and nothing else. Never failed me yet.
Posted:  13 Feb 2008 7:55 PM
I have used both had success with both, but have also had issues with expandables. I was recommended grim reepers, used them with any extreemly light fast arrow. The flew good, but I think they went so fast I shot 3 does in 1 week and never found any of them, finally I killed a buck, but trailed him for a long way. Turned out the arrow were going through the deer but never opening. Since switching to Montac G5 have had zero issues and fly like practice heads!
