Was wondering if anyone hunted 38 this year and if the change in the regulations had much of an impact on the hunt?
Anyone score there this year? |

I did not hunt z38 for the first time in over 10+ years. I was caught off guard by the shotgun/muzzy changes and the spot I have hunted since 1990 was off limits to shotgunning.
From what I heard and researched, the numbers were way down this year. Actually, the numbers have been dwindling in recent years, but this year I think I heard they only dropped 85 deer. The numbers are way down, the sightings of deer are way down and blue tongue played a huge role in less deer this year. I have a hunting friend who hunts private land adjacent to the Great Swamp and said during bow season he usually sees tons of deer, but this year he knew by October that something was wrong as he didn't see many deer at all. I have hiked the swamp in recent weeks where I usually hunt and have done so after recent snowfalls. Hardly any tracks/traffic 2 days after a snow fall! |
