Great pics!  Does your husband sell the hides?  The coyote market is on the rise...Decent money for light colored coats but the second black one is a beautiful animal!

Black yotes look so cool!  I saw one once that a few years ago shot in Allamuchy that had to go over 50-60 pounds.  It looked like something from a nightmare.  So cool.

Gobblergetter did you get any??? Hopefully?

I sell the hides. No money in them though.

I personally do not set them. I am too slow, but I do scout with Dutch to set, and check sometimes with him as well.

OK Now I am pretty sure this is the last of the season. We still have snares out there, but he is SUPPOSED to pull them shortly.

This male was snared on 2/25/08. Weight was 55lbs,on the scale. I think he is an ugly dog, but I guess a dog is a dog.

OK I need to know how do you snare? Do you use bait . Do they get snared by the foot or neck???

you dont want to snare by bait cause animals come into bait slowly & cautiously. You want to get the animal while its at a walk so it simply slips the snare around its neck.To set up around a baited area you set the snares 30 yds back the trail its gonna use to get to the bait.
I just put out some freezer burnt venison and a road kill bunny last night and set up some snares for fox & yotes this a.m. we'll see what comes in. Alot of trappers dont bait but simply set up on the trails the animals use often I'm having a hard time finding them so I've resorted to baiting them in

I just saw this. Sorry for the late reply

I've snared 7 and shot 2.
I pulled all my snares ..The last fox I caught was bred, had swollen teats and the fur was off her belly !!!(preparing a den)
Foxes have been rubbed up this way for a couple of weeks.

Nice job on the Yotes
