71 is NOTHING. I wish it would go a tad higher, but I dont want to buy new limbs.

I know a guy thats pulling 94lbs !!! Shoots one pin from 0-40yards.

are you kidding me? Im not really a bowhunter but anything over 74 or 75 is a little excessive aint it?

Im not saying that more is better.

But if you can acurately shoot the fastest and heaviest arrow possible, there is a good argument that you should.

Real Heavy!

I know guys that comfortably shoot around 80lbs....but Im not sure I know anyone that could consistently shoot 94lbs.

You dont need an 80lb bow to use one pin for a 40 yd shot, thats not true.  The weight can be much less!

Very true.  You can shoot a light arrow at a higher speed.  But if you want to shoot an arrow close to 500 grains, from 0-40 yards with one pin, your gonna need the extra draw weight.

hey people kill deer just fine with 35 lbs. i think thats why its also the set lowest draw weight for hunting. i prefer a lower setting myself only at 51 lbs. when ur sitting still for hours cold and stiff it makes it alot harder to pull the bow back. it could cost you the buck of a life time down the road. at 51 lbs i kill deer just fine out to 35 yds and positive i could do it at 45 yds or more if i wanted to.

60 lbs.
With the speed of today's bows I don't find it necessary to shoot 70 or 80 lbs anymore.Been there-done that...
Posted:  05 Feb 2008 8:40 PM
Currently shooting a Vectrix at 72# I always have shot heavy weight bows and heavy arrows.

I had a Pearson Spoiler that I maxed out at 91# and it was smooth. )Pass throughs at 40 yards with a 31" 2419's  and thunderheads.

I'm in the market for a 60# bow now that will max at 60 to 64.

Yes I do beleive that 94lbs is too much. I actually thought the guys at the bow counter were kidding, but they were not.

The kid is shooting 94lbs. I think it would be hard to draw back in a stealthy, confined manner.

Not if you are used to it. When I started bowhunting the heavier the better. Like Megabuck said more kinetic energy. their were none of these light weight arrows we have today. I shoot these light weight drawing bows and they fell like toys. but I just need to get used to them.

I shoot 75lbs,, was shooting 80lbs when I first got the new limbs on my tribute.. but after tunning and such 75lbs was perfect on paper and 13 deer this year!  Shoot whats comfortable and accurate!!

Does 60 pounds even hold the string tight on the bow?

One bonus in shooting light weight, you don't need a bow press anymore. Its like leaning on a recurve.
