Still no luck in the traps Still haven't search for them because some bucks are still holding horns in 12 Saw 3 bucks today from the barn still holding

That's a possibility I didn't consider.  You may be right.  The spots I went to are pretty thick, and I didn't see any other bootprints, so maybe that's it.  Either way, the next few weeks should be good for looking for them.

Now your just rubbing it in.LOL
Were they in one of your traps? I know the Mills really well, and that picture has me stumped
Posted:  02 Mar 2008 2:13 PM
Yeah I found these in a trap. The field is on the other side of 528 near Great Adventure. I think I've covered about 2000 acres of the mills so far only 12000 to go. I will have to quit looking soon My bonsai trees will take up all my free time soon. I have one spot that I was seeing a big 10pt that will probaly be the last place I look then quit for this year.

I went shed hunting this weekend... found my first one!  I was so excited... it was only one side, two points.  But I still couldn't believe I found one... i'm usually so oblivious to everything.  Buckman37 has got a trained eye tho...he found at least 2 this weekend, one of them being one side of a real nice ten pointer...never saw that deer hangin in the area before, so it was a great find!  Can't wait to get out there again before the ticks get real bad

Last year we saw racked bucks as late as the first week in April in Somerset and Morris County. Last week my Dad saw 7 racked bucks in Warren Twp.

Me and Mike K hit the mills this mourning 3 hours we found five sheds. Mike found the first a 3pt. Then I found a small forkhorn. The next spot I found a matched set to a nice 8pt laying about 10yd apart and a small spike not too far from there

Jon55NJ had his dog out yesterday, training him to find sheds.

He seemed to be catching on fast. We hid 6 sheds around a brushy field numerous times and he found them pretty quick. He knew to bring them back to Jon. I was amazed he could smell a shed...

What the heck can a shed smell like?

He definitely got downwind of them though, and he'd stop and come back right for it! Amazing.

I found a tiny spike while we were walking around. Seems I'm still better than the dog!

I hunted Allaire years ago. Really only saw a couple small bucks. I hunted off of W. Hurley Pond Rd though. I live about 10 minutes from Manasquan WMA and wanted to try there a few times. I've also walked the sections of Allaire down the street from the Manasquan WMA and it looked good there too. Never got a chance to hunt either though. I hunt private now, but still would love to give both a try next year.

I think you guys may be right about the bucks holsing onto their racks still here in Central NJ.  I looked again Sunday in some prime proven spots and found squat.  Maybe one more week.....
