Last winter bow in Colliers Mills I had this buck come in I passed on him. I want to know what other members would have done. I hunted him hard this year and didn't get him if he makes it through this week and doesn't run out in front a buick he will be bigger next year.http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii208/bowhunter444/deer001.jpg                                                http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii208/bowhunter444/deer002.jpg                                                http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii208/bowhunter444/018.jpg

I think I actually know this buck, I had him on my cams too.

As a half rack I'd have passed, but both sides...last year in the Mill I'd probably have shot...considering it's public land.

I would have passed and shot the doe instead.

no brainer, let him go

The one thing to notice is, he didn't grow much between 1/07 and 1/08...what did he put on...5-10 inches?  He'll be bigger, but he isn't going to go be a giant slammer next year.  But again, as a half rack, I'd pass on him this year in hopes of getting him with both sides next year.

This year the buck would have scored above 140" it has about an 19" inside spread next year it will be 4 1/2 years old so he will be reaching his prime I've been after him now for three seasons

Ken, you made the right call passing on him. Did you ever find any of his sheds from last year?
Posted:  29 Jan 2008 11:25 AM
I'd a shot him than went looking for the shed and some crazy glue

You made the right choice, passing on him as a 1/2 rack deer.

I agree he looks like a tired old timer. Even if you never see him again, & he succumbs over the winter, by giving him a "pass" you've allowed him to pass on his genes to future generations of piney woods deer.

Is that the food he already digested and is eating again?

why so people can shoot him thinking its a giant doe?

i would have passed the half rack if he had a chance to make it till next year.

I would have passed on a half rack. The only thing is, on public property you run the risk of never seeing him again. Without a doubt though, I would pass him on private. Not so sure about public though.

No so they can think he was a tall skinny bear. It was a joke, I wouldnt throw rocks at its antlers

No sense in taking a half rack... Hopefully he makes it through and will be bigger ext year.
