Goose hunter, 14, accidentally killed by uncle1/13/2008, 8:18 p.m. EST
The Associated Press

LEONIDAS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities in southwestern Michigan say a man accidentally shot his 14-year-old nephew to death while they were goose hunting.

The St. Joseph County sheriff's department says it happened Saturday in Leonidas Township, about 20 miles southeast of Kalamazoo and about 120 miles west-southwest of Detroit.

A news release identifies the victim as Nathan Truckey of Mendon. It says he died at Bronson Hospital. The uncle's name wasn't given.

WWMT-TV says Nathan was a freshman at Mendon High School, played junior varsity football and loved to fish and hunt. He would have turned 15 on January 30.
