NJ Hunter / New Jersey Small Game & Waterfowl Hunting / Small Game Action / Caught a Nice Yote (pix)

A farmer called me the other night and wanted to know if I could trap some coyotes that were giveing him trouble (harassing sheep and getting ducks and chickens).
I set three snares yesterday and this morning I had a Big Male 'Yote.

I will probably skin him and put the hide in the freezer so that  'Team 13' will have a nice yote for a shoulder mount if we win the contest. He is a beauty.

jrhunt..Do you want a Fox or a Coyote shoulder mount if we win?

I will also be going there in the near future to try to call in a 'Yote or two.

I have great footage on my digital camera of the coyote howling, but I can't figure out how to get it on the 'puter.

Enjoy the pics.

Wow...he is beautiful!

What do you use to kill em while trapping?  A .22?

Youve gotta make one of those pics your avatar....afterall, yotes are "gobbler getters"

Great pictures! The first one I snared put chills down my spine when it looked at me. The 22 short felt real small that morning.

Thats why I want to skin him and put him in the freezer instead of on a strecher..

Outlaw....Any special instructions for skinning him...I've Caped Elk, Deer and Caribou before and the taxidernist have never complained..So I quess I can handle a Coyote,
For a shoulder mount...It is O'K if I cut the front legs at the elbow..Correct?

I will skin it...put it in the freezer, just incase jrhunt and I win the contest and jr wants a coyote mount. If we don't win then I'll thaw it out and strech it.

Gobbler getter,
Congrats, thats a beauty. Any advice for a first year trapper trying to get his first Yote. We got 11 Reds this year, but no Yote's, we have been setting our traps up a little highter, but cant seem to get one. We find alot of scat, so we know there around. Looks like you know what your doing.
