NJ Hunter / New Jersey Hunting / Field Testing and Evaluation / Looking to get a new bow undecided what to get
Posted:  13 Jan 2008 10:38 PM
Any recomendations???? I shoot a Golden Eagle now. I was looking at the Matthews solo cam. What the name of it was I forget.
But for now I am saving my pennies. Hopefully by fall bow I can get one and set it up. I am left handed and practice alot just if  could shoot a deer that would be better...

i have a matthews lx now and i love it but man there is something about those bowtechs...i just love them

I have the new pse x force. 28 inch draw at 64 pounds its shootin a 405 grain arrow out to 35 yards with one pin. Short brace height and its definetly a speed bow, but shocked at how little vibration there is. Its rough gettin over the big lobe on the cam, but once its back its nice. the advantage is , shoot it a 55 pounds and its still fast as most 70 pound bows! however there are way more forgiving bows. Like NJdeer said there's something about those new bowtechs. The general, the whole bow feels like it is dipped in some kind of velvet rubber. Super quiet, u can hold the riser in cold weather withour freezing ur hand off. The diamond bows are also made by bowtech. My Dad jst got the bowtech black ice. Sweet bow. good luck. too many choices!

I've always been a Mathews man but my next bow will probably be a BowTech.
I am also a lefty so I know it won't be easy for you to shoot many bows to help you decide.

there are so many great bows out there, that you need to know what your price range is, then goto a PRO SHOP and handle/draw everyone within that price range

The new bowtechs are nice... smooth draw and pretty quick.  But I still prefer a hoyt... they are a much more forgiving bow than many others on the market.  It all depends on the shooter though.  Like BHC said, find a price range and draw (and hopefully shoot) everybow you can in that range to see what you like.

Find a knowledgeable pro shop and shoot a bunch of different ones pick the one that you like the best and let the shop set it up.If you are near Washington give strictly archery a try you will not be disappointed

So am I ...I have been looking into the new matthews but I think I am sold on the new hoyt cyclone.  Its faster, looks better but is about 3 oz heavier.  And its quieter than the mew matthews.  They are the same price too........

I shoot a Mathews Drenalin. I would draw and shoot your top 3 choices and decide based on feel. Like someone else mentioned, it's probably gonna be tough being a lefty. I shot 4 bows before I made my decision; Hoyt, Bowtech, Kodiak, and Mathews. I have also since shot the new PSE, pretty crazy bow but not sure I'd want it in a hunting situation. Good luck deciding and don't forget to start looking into how you plan on rigging it.

If your in the area A&M archery in lakewood, nj. See Mike very knowledable. My buddy just got a Matthews he is a lefty. I have a PSE Nova and will be getting a Matthews soon.

Shoot the new Mathews DXT, you won't be disapointed.  I've shot pretty much all the top competitors out there.  Nothing compares.  At Simon Peter's you can pick up a bow off the rack and shoot it with no questions asked.  The new DXT sell's itself.

BOWTECH....you need to go out and shoot the Bowtech General. Take dubs word for it...I'll be getting mine in about a month.
