got my sets out this weekend, about 50 sets total. running yote snares, fox snares, muskrat snares, 220's for otters, 110's and colony traps for rats.

yote set, gut pile 40' away, under snare box. long hedgerow with a break. between a cut corn field and a apple orchard.

the rats are causing bank erosion, need them out. this also gives me k9 rights to the rest of the place.

this culvert looks good, i pulled the colony and put a 220 there, the colony kept loading up with leaves.

i moved it to this shine for the rats, gets the trap out of the water flow.

rat snare. we have to have coni's under water in nj, a snare works for this set.

put a location in your profile, maybe a trapper will take you. i had my two girls and a long time friend with me today. plenty of deer nock downs. i never do good the first day after setting, too much scent left at the site. usually day three and after.

I too would like to join a trapper to check and set lines, see how it's done!

I live down in Mount Laurel, NJ...but would travel to spend a weekend morning/day setting and another checking.

sandy, sandals, they run the pines up your way. he's on here.
i set on a weekend then check all week. only resetting the deer knock downs and catches. i'll run this line for about two or three weeks, then pull everything and move to another couple places. i'll post catches if i don't get too much PC crap for it.

Are those 'Micro Locks' that you are using ?
If so, How do you like them? Do the close smooth?

some are micro locks, slim locks, and bmi mini's. this is the first year for the micro's and slims for me, always had bmi's on the line. i like them both. they fire very fast on a loaded snare, faster then the bmi. the bmi requires a little more tuning to fire right, but the locking part doesn't clog with fur. i did make a few catches with both micro and slims, both are very smooth and fast. with bmi's getting hard to get a hold of, i'm leaning towards the other two. i'll see which comes out to be the better lock and let you know after this year. Newt swears by the slim locks, but the micro's have people talking.

had the team with me on checks tonight.
two rats and a snared coon. those who think snares kill don't know the truth. this coon was fast a sleep when i got there tonight, had to wake him to give the news.
