From an undisclosed cornfield in Warren county...

Tuff morning all around.  First, BestNJBirdDogs stands me up... over slept... too much partying last night I guess.  LOL...  Then MikeP shows up without a 2008 license.

So its pitch dark... and I had a all of my crap to carry to the set up location.  It took me two trips back and forth from the car because I had no one to help me.

I can hear the geese on the water before sunrise.  It was a beautiful sunrise.

Eventally MikeP shows up with his 2008 license.

We hunted until about noon.  No kills.  However, we saw a ton a geese flying over us.  I will let MikeP post how many geese we saw... because if I posted the number you would think I was BS'ing you.

We had a few birds come in... but nothing committed (wings locked and feet down) to the decoy spread.

Here is an early morning photo from the cornfield blind:

We had a few ducks fly over too.  And we think... not sure beacause maybe it was the sun on the birds... but we might have saw a flock of snow geese.  They were flying weird... seemed like they were hovering over an adjacent field... instead of circling/landing/crusing.  Heck, they looked white to me.

I had wave after wave of geese drop in on me after I had my limit. I had to call the landowners wife to come over and chase them out. Didn't want to educate the birds more then they are already are to my decoys and blind. Got a good school lesson in what geese say to one another as they were dropping in with the landing gear down. Awesome morning!

Actually I had my 2008 license all along but I didn't feel like helping carry all that crap into the field. As soon as I saw Drag unloading all that stuuf out of the back of his car I said "I'll be back in an hour, I have to go get my license".

We did see an unbelievable amount of geese.  There was one flock that filled the sky for over 2 miles.  I estimate there were 30,000 geese in that flock alone.  We probably saw 40,000 geese today.

Awesome day even though we didn't get any shots.

Can anybody recommend a good goose call?  I have to get me a few.  Also, how many decoys do usually put out in a spread?

Death from Above -

What county are you hunting?  All these reports of tons of birds from you and Drag and my spots have cooled off
