NJ Hunter / New Jersey Deer, Bear & Turkey Hunting / Deer Action / Deer Zone 12 / big dead buck at Round Valley / Cushetunk (pic)
Posted:  07 Jan 2008 5:21 PM   Last Edited By: Dragthor
I found a huge dead 8 pointer, 23" spread while walking near Round Valley / Mt. Cushetunk area.  It was a long way from any roads, so I'm guessing it was shot during buck week.  I'll try to upload a camera phone picture shortly.  Anyone take a shot at a huge buck that week?

And here I thought only sinister bowhunters lost deer.

All those shotguns blasting away with buckshot at running deer NEVER hit one with one or two pellets to have them die days later as if they had been hit with a car(How many drivers get out and LOOK for a deer they just smacked).

Any pics... that may be the one I was after last year.  He is/was a really nice deer... nice high G2's and 3's but very small brow tines... most deer in that area have small or no brow tines for some reason.

Left him in the woods, but told a few people about him.  Someone will likely go looking for him or find him while hiking.  He had nice spread and heavy mass.  correct, Small brow tines though, maybe 5-6".

PIC finally added.  Here is the picture of dead buck found while hiking on Cushetunk Mountain next to Round Valley.  22" inside spread.  A friend skinned the skull and hung it high in the tree where we found it.  Still not sure how it died since it was over a mile from any roads.

How does this guy no that the deer was shot during buck week. Maybe the deer was taken down by a pack of coyotes. We need to STOP putting down a certain group of hunters just because you dont agree with it. GROW UP!!!!!!

I agree with you Jswany.  Who knows he might have gotten hit by a car and ran off into the woods and died.  Sometimes they get hit and run several hundered yards before they actually die from a auto accident.

That is ridiculous... You found a rack in the woods. If you could get busted for that, then our CO's don't have enough work to do...
That would mean that every time you go shed hunting you need a pocket full of buck tags... What a waste should have took it home and hung it on the shed.

You can have all the sheds you want. However, if those antlers are attached to the skull, and sawing them off DOES NOT MATTER, then you need to have a record of having reported those deer, most importantly, as being legally taken. Get caught transporting them without any documentation and see what happens.

stir,stir, stir
