Anyone hunt it and see or get anything.

I was there Jan 1 from dark to dark and did not even see a deer but counted over 30 hunters on the 50 acres the county opened this year.

Biggest issue with that many guys was 1/2 the area that is designated deer hunting is fields so we had roughly 1-2 hunters per wooded acre!

Rick,

Chuck was there on the 1st in the afternoon.  He saw a few, but none came in bow range.

f-dale.  i checked out huber and was waiting for someone to post on this.  only 50 acres.  i walked around there and found 17 ladder stands. one ree marked with a hunters tag so im sure that placeis a joke and all the deer are getting pushed to where you cant hunt.  i was going to hunt there but too many guys.

Ann,

Chuck must have been still in the woods when I left as there was only I think 2 or 3 cars left in the lot when I left. I got frustrated and went back to the parking lot at 10 minutes to 5.

I had a guy come out of the woods at 8:05 in the morning applogizing that he had to go home.

I was the first person there in the morning and could here the deer walking fast past me in the dark and I was almost to Bowne rd figuring guys would push them to me. I watched one guy walk in the dark with his flashlight for almost 30 minutes in probably a 60 yard circle apparently he couldn't find his stand.

When it got light out I could see 5 guys within 100 yards of my stand and two of them were about 50 yards away.

I think it will strictly be before or after work.

Driving past there this week between 8-9am no cars in the lot. Also what were they thinking having the parking lot so close to the best part of those woods although it probably didn't matter since the total area was so small.

Tatum park was the same way the firs year. It slowed down a little bit into the season.
I took a nice 135 incher in Feb. that year. Bucktail took a 125 incher the same day on the other side of the park.  Stick it out..Doe are coming into heat again, you never know whats gonna happen.

Killerinusall,

I hear you may be the only person to have gotten a deer at Huber.

Congrats!

Rick

Heard it was a button from a guy I met in the parking lot tonight.

The guy I met tonight said he had some deer coming in at about 4:45 tonight and when they were almost in range a guy came walking down one of the dirt roads carrying a 50 pd. bag of corn and spooked them.

I just saw this Rick, and you heard right.  Just as the bachlor heard was crossing, a jogger and a car came through and the others headed back.

Huntemup,

I saw one while hunting near where you said you were the other night walked past at 100 yards with about 10 minutes of light left...coming out there were 15-20 in the field next to the parking lot.

Ann,

According to the ranger they now know of only 2 coming out Chucks and a 5 or 6 pointer.

There is a ton of sign but it is hard to pattern them now with all of the corn altering where they would travel and feed. From what I have seen in hunting there 4 days so far they aren't moving until last light.

Hope to bring you at least one more this season.

Rick

Huntemup,

Saw 6 today within 30 yards of where you hunt at the park today at 4:40. 5 does or antlerless and a small basket rack looked like a six.

Drove around the roads and saw a total of 18 in the last 45 minutes today.

I finally succumbed to baiting. I set it out about 250-300 yards from where you are in a funnel between the woods and one of the fields and then also where I told you I was closer to the parking lot in case I get there late.

Any one hunting Huber tomorrow Martin Luther King Day?

Plan on being there in the morning and if I can will be back out tomorrow afternoon.

Have to buy a new tub and sink for the master bathroom so that may keep me out in the afternoon.

You going tomorrow Chuck?

Matt,I ended going to Howell saturday from about 10-dark and saw one but got no shots with my son.On the way we drove through Huber and think I saw you in the tree but not sure.Today planned on being there in the morning but woke up at 4 and rolled back over wanting to get up at 5. Well I ended up sleeping in and then spent the day between Lowes and Home Depot getting a tub and the rest of the fixtures to redo my bathroom.Does this mean you missed one saturday morning?Chuck,How did you do this afternoon?
