NJ Hunter / New Jersey Deer, Bear & Turkey Hunting / Deer Action / Deer Zone 36 / Why cant people leave other stuff alone?
Posted:  03 Jan 2008 3:32 PM
I've been hunting a nice privately owned piece in zone 36 all season . The last few times out someone has messed with my stuff. They reliefed themself on my feed  , put dead animals near my stand and the last thing was they undid my straps to my ladder stand. Now to me that is a attempt to harm ! I've been known to shoot a few good bucks you think its kids or another jealous hunter. I almost feel like forgeting nj hunting . I put the time in and someone else goes and ruinings it, not cool. Any thoughts on how to handle this

Sounds like an anti to me.  I think a jealous hunter would simply steal your gear instead of just loosening it.  Just my 2 cents.

Do you have exclusive rights?

If so, is the landowner resident on the piece and actively keeping an eye out for trespassers?

Also if so, why not try to narrow down on when these incidents are happening and be there when they do.  Catch, confront and prosecute the trespassers, especially with the intent to harm you by loosening the straps and compromising your safety.

Who knows who it was and if you did you would have it figured out.

It seems just human nature that people cann't leave well enough alone ever.

I've had dead animals put on my stand as well and the animal was mine and I was on my way to get it resolved when someone did it for me. It beat part of the drag and wondered well why didn't they drag it to where I park my truck then? Why because they just like to screw with you.

Maybe that was it someone wants to just cause you greif and aggravation. Part of life that sucks today because in the olden days you could get away with tracking them down and learning them but it's a differant world today.

It stinks. I hunt some County property and when I went to my stand my screw in steps were gone. My stand was there with no way to get up to it. Ruined the morning hunt.

What kind of dead animals did they put near your stand. Welcome to the site.

What are the results you are looking to achieve and to what lengths?

Survailance..
Beef up police patrol of property
Allow one other hunter so two of you can rotate
hidden cams from above
boobie traps
post the land and let police know some one has been trespassing and vandalizing, and possible hate crime becuase of your religious belief in hunting for your food..

brain storm and write it down.

I agree.  Its time for a different type of hunt.  Catch them in the act and make a citzens arrest.
