No you cannot shoot does in 16 this week even if you have a permit.
Paul I am not pointing fingers. I just hate hypocrites. A person who shoots everything that moves has no right the following year to complain about the lack of deer they see. F&W needs to get rid of the unlimited bag limit because it is ruining public land.

I shot a doe first day in the am. Farmer wants them thinned out. They destroyed his crops this year. I we want private land to hunt we better start thinning the herd. There are 4 of us that hunt this property regularly. 2 of us got a doe so far if the other 2 get one that is 4. Hopefully we each get  a buck and that is 8. That is 8 less deer eating his crops. Not to count bow season

jrhunt,

I have the digest and some of it is hard to understand sometimes confusing atleast it is to me.
I have my extended permit plus a buck tag for next week. I was just wondering if you needed a Doe permit also.. So you mean to tell me I can shoot a doe this week with the 6-day permit. or do I need a doe permit this week. I've been passing up does left and right. Since Monday I've seen 25-30 of them.

You can not shoot a doe in Zone 16 with a Shotgun this week. Period.( You can Kill a Doe if your bow hunting) Next week you need your extended permit ($28) to shoot a Doe. If you want to shoot a Buck next week you also need a Buck permit.($28)
Make sure you Do not shoot a Doe in Zone 16 with your shotgun during 6 Day.

I'm looking for bucks...In zone 8 I have Jan and Feb to worry about the management does. And I will not shoot small buck...sorry I wont do it if I'm not proud of it...I dont have many places to hunt so no sense in ruining my spot for just meat hunting...Like I said I have time...

Why is that?...I would rather go without meat before I shot a small antlered buck...(If meat is your desire shoot does, if antlers is your desire shoot only large bucks...)

In virtually every part of this state the buck to doe ratio is already all out of whack...avoiding shooting doe's does nothing but agrivates the problem.

You can shoot Does in Zone 16 during 6 day.

According to Reg Set #4, you can with a bow permit.

Shot-gun and ML seasons do not occur during 6-day in zone 16.

Anyone taking does during 6-day is either using a bow or breaking the law.

REGULATION SET # 4: ZONES - 2, 16, 22, 26, 27*, 28, 29*, 31, 35*, 47, 63*Fall Bow (42-days): First deer must be antlerless: September 8 - 28, 2007

First deer may be antlered or antlerless: September 29 - October 26, 2007Permit Bow (55-days): October 27 - December 24, 26 - 31, 2007Youth Day - Bow (1-day): September 22, 2007Youth Day - Firearm (1-day): November 17, 2007
Permit Muzzleloader (21-days): November 26, 27; December 10, 11, 15 - 24, 26 - 31, 2007; and January 1 - 4, 2008

Six-day Firearm (6-days): December 3 - 8, 2007
Season bag limit is two antlered deer. However, If a hunter harvests two antlered deer, he/she forfeits the opportunity to harvest an antlered deer during the Permit Shotgun Season. Only one buck may be taken at a time
Permit Shotgun Season (10-days): December 12 - 14, 2007; and January 5 - 12, 2008

I think there is too much of conflict of intrest with having permit bow til the end of the year .I know all the shots I heard could not be all bucks.I think some hunters are shooting them with a gun and comming back with their bows.I am watching out for the poachers .No one likes a game thief!!!!

I hunt zone 4, and I never-ever shoot a doe. I don't care what season they call it. There just is not enough deer anymore. If F&G, the auto insurance co.'s, the unhappy citizens with shrubs want all the deer wiped out, let them do it. Not me.

I shoot does depending on how much meat I need. I could've shot 10+ this year so far but took 2 for the freezer. I'm still waiting for a decent buck to show up. I may take one more doe to hold me over.

There was a time I would take any deer, but where I hunt I don't see many, so I let the does/fawns walk. Just the way I feel, but if others want to whack a antlerless deer go ahead

No one can balance the herd other than Mother nature and she's already doing it. Do you really think that the lack of does are because they got shot. I don't think so personally. I suspect that blue tonque and the cars have taken a better than average toll as well. I think more deer died in the state than we really are aware of from what we are being told. I have seen at least 50% less around.

Our club didn't shoot does due to the zone changes when we hunt.

Yes does are being killed, yes the disease earlier this year helped get rid of some deer.

I know the numbers are down.  Interested to see due to what though.

I usuallt take two doe for food and then look for buck.

I am glad I get the opportunity to shoot deer.  I can't hunt much due to family and work.  It is nice to be able to have options.  I have never heard people complain so much.  The laws are base on zone population.  I am sure the rules will change that is a good thing.  What is bad is when they have a huge population where they will not let you hunt.  As long as the meat is not wasted stop complaining.  The Federation will make changes as necessary.

And I shot a few more Some areas need the does removed, some don't. Use your own judgement

I wouldn't feel comfortable shooting a doe at this time of the year.  just my opinion.
