Here’s my report for 6 day so far.

Despite the wind many posted properties were pushed by roving gangs who feel they have a right to put down all that is brown no matter what land it is standing on or weather or not they blacken the eyes of their fellow hunters or not.
Shooting from or ON the roads was “De Rigor” and the fact that several were apprehended while doing this did not stop the others.

While the wind may have prevented many from venturing out and many who did from having a good day it did not prevent the 10% of the crowd who insist on acting like criminals and hooligans from appearing to be 90% of the hunting population just by their shear impact and visibility thus a longstanding tradition of “6 Day Bucks” bringing out the worst from the morally challenged was preserved.

Our club considered it one of the worst openers in memory due to the weather and overall lack of hunters.  We had an ice coating in Zone 2 which preceded to melt around 8.30am for the next 2 hours -then 50+ mph winds for the rest of the day with some more showeres.

A senior member took 1 spike.  Maybe Saturday will bring out more hunters.

I tagged a small 6pt at 9:30. He and a 3pt got pushed out of 6 mile (bow only)by gun hunters. I'm on 25 acres (corn fields) that buts to it. These gun clubs don't care that it's bow only. Anyway, I gutted it and found the deer had a broadhead in it's ham and it was all infected. The liver was black. Trying to do the right thing, I tag and checked him in. Took the rack/tail (I tie flies)and brought him back to feed the yotes. We have alot of them. hear them every time I go in. I'll get out tomarrow for deer.

i left the gun in the truck and took the bow.had a 4 or a 6 at 15 yards at 7 AM. seen a bunch of does, no shot, then at last light i had a big doe and a small doe come in, the big one didnt offer a shot and the small one made a bad decision by going straight to the bait.. (i filled my buck tag already, but would rather shoot a doe with a bow then a buck with the gun..just my opinion) if i get in a "mood" i might go out saturday evening with the slug gun. if not i wont see the woods til winter bow. or the night fox/coyote season. been scouting..

I didn't get out in the morning(work) made it for the last 2 drives-had a fork horn and a six come out on the drive-no shots, and the deer turned back toward the drivers.

Second drive we had 3 does go down 2 for one hunter, and one for another.

Total for the day 1 3 point buck, and 7 does from state land and lease between 7 hunters not all that interesting of a day
