| I've raised a few of them. They are a domestic duck, not a native species. They are ugly as sin with their red faces, especially the males but they are "meat" ducks (as opposed to ducks raised for egg production) and very delicious. They are a big, heavy kind of duck with large feathers and plucking can be a real chore. The females fly very well but the males are so heavy it is hard for them to fly very far. I always skinned them and to keep them moist while roasting I drape a few slices of bacon over them. I know, trading oil for fat but it comes out sooo good! | ||

I guess I might try one then. There's a bunch at my friends house and I dont think he'll mind if I depopulate his lake alittle. __________________ If I hunt it, I eat it

| Just make sure they aren't pets. It wouldn't do your friendship any good. | ||

| I use to raise them for meat, make sure your buddy isnt trying to raise them to sell. They go for anywhere from 10-20 bucks each. Damn good eating, and there not a wild duck so they dont fall under any fish and wildlife rules. You can try to "dip" them in hot water to pluck but you need to take the outer feathers off first, there a bit water proof lol. | ||
