Well i couldn't make it out in the morning.  My middle daughter cut her toe on a step stool and we had to take her to the doctors for possibly stiches.  thank god she didn't need them.

so i'm able to get out in the afternoon.  i get there around 2pm.  i'm walking in and right off the bat i see movement un this hillside.  i can see a good deer and a huge neck!  so of course i know its a buck.  i get the bino's up and i see its a real nice 8!  i grunt and i get his attentioon right away.  but he doesn't come down.  he keeps going up.  everytime i grunted and even tried "the can" he just kept going up.  after 20 minutes i see why.  i spot a doe out in front of him.  he was on her tail and didn't want to leave her.

so after they are over the hill i keep on moving to my spot.  i get settled in an area where i keep seeing the deer come from before dark.  i usually setup about 75 to 80 yards away but today i decide to move in.  well after sitting for only 30 minutes or so i had a button buck walk in and hang around me for like 30 minutes or more.  then he leaves.  i hear movement in front of me but i can't see it.  i'm grunting and "canning".  i see another deer join up with this button.  its a spike, with like 1 inch spikes...lol  well he circles me and gets downwind and takes off.

so now i hit "the can" again and i hear deer crashing through the woods.  coming right at me.  i see three does run over the rock wall behind me at about 50 yards.  they are hanging around on the other side of the rock wall.  i then hear deer walking in from same area the does came from.  i see a nice 6 pointer with a wide rack, maybe 16 or 17 inch spread.  he starts chasing the does all over the place.  he was on them like crazy.  i catch some movement up the hill and i put bino's on him.  i see its the 6 ptr, maybe 150 yards away.  i grunt and he just stops and looks right at me.  he starts to come in and then circle me.  but it wound up getting too dark and he never came in close enough for a shot.

but man what an afternoon of action.  i've been seeing so many different bucks in this spot.  its a bow only area so i can't gun hunt it during six-day, so i'm thinking of bowhunting it opening day.  clubs around it will be pushing deer.  might be best spot to get one with bow.  plus it wont be crowded like normal state land.

yes it is and yes there have been some great days there.  i've only still got one doe on opening day there.  i missed a doe another time.  i also passed on a few deer.  i just can't get it done on one of the big bucks i see.
