I caught this guy on one of my trail cams. I think it's a pine martin, but I'm not sure  I didn't think pine martins live in NJ (smart animals)  Any ideas?

coming from a taxidermist thats funny.  I have two pictures of it, but this is the best one.  I know that they have pine martins in Upstate NY. so i guess it's not impossible.

Drag might be right about a cat.

looks a helluva lot like a fisher

wrong shape to be a groundhog, and the tails a little long too for that.

would be a really odd colored mink or weasel, but I'm thinking that not either of those, hard to tell, but I'm guessing that that critter could go more than a couple of pounds, so that throws them out.

body is a little on the stocky side for a pine marten, and the color again would be off

I'm thinking fisher, because of body shape and coloration, and we have em in NJ. Pine martens wouldn't be out of the question here either, just noones fessing up to catching one yet.

Still looks like a groundhog to me. The ears are kind of small for a martin.

Now I'm not sure, if I squint my eyes and tilt my head I can see a cat. Could be stalking something.
