I was hunting this afternoon with my 9 year old in Colts Neck.
We were in seperate treestands about 10 feet apart. We were in stands covering a trail in a great funnel when I heard a deer cross the street and enter our piece of woods. I whisper to my son not to move a deer is coming. I then turn back and see what is a huge 10 point mainframe with a 10 inch drop tine on his right main beam. I look back at my son and he seems to have not heard me as he then moves his foot and turns to look behind the tree. The deer was now 5 yards from my tree on the other side of a bush and spooks! I grunt with my mouth and he stops and looks back broadside. He is now between 20-25 yards and I shoot everything looks good until my arrow stops in mid air and just drops straight down. Turns out I hit a vine! ![]() ![]()
The buck then runs through a super thick sticker row and up a 20 foot earthen cliff into the yard of my friends property we are hunting. The deer turns right and stops 40 yards away broadside but I can't shoot because if I miss or get a pass through I will hit his house. ![]() ![]()
About an hour later my son sees a deer chasing a doe but I can't see it from my angle it suddenly turns up a hill. It is the same buck I missed arlier chasing a doe but never gets closer than 50 yards in the thick stuff. What a night! When we left he told me that he couldn't help but look! ![]()
For comparison this is a deer I shot on October 12th but add 2 more main frame points, about 1/2 again as much mass and then a 10 inch drop tine. ![]() __________________ Bowtech Allegiance 65lbs

I am fine not getting the ten/eleven as most won't get one bigger then the one I got in October but it would have been awesome because my son was with me!
It still was awesome to have a deer that big so close! I felt aweful because my son cried about spooking the deer. __________________ Bowtech Allegiance 65lbs

OMG, the one you already got is a monster. Good luck with catching up with the one you missed today. __________________ Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Diet Coke in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" - Maxine
