NJ Hunter / New Jersey Politics & Guns / Political Action, Tools, and Information / IT'S OFFICIAL! Panter & Karcher are OUT!
Posted:  07 Nov 2007 9:51 AM
Beck, O'Scanlon and Casagrande are the new representatives of District 12. The "head" of the animal rights beast has been lopped-off and the gateway that Panter and Karcher were for extremists to enter Trenton is now closed.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the grassroots effort to awaken Trenton to the influence of sportsmen and sportswomen.

In an extraordinary sense the outdoor community is indebted to Assemblyman Panter and Senator Karcher. Their bills have united anglers, hunters, trappers, shooters and conservationists into a 1,000,000 strong voting bloc, while exposing the animal rights community as extremists whose values are on the fringes of society.

The New Jersey Outdoor Alliance will continue its mission by formalizing relationships with the Recreational Fishing Alliance and the individuals that make up the approximately one thousand angling, hunting, trapping, shooting and conservation organizations throughout New Jersey.

It is reassuring to see an electorate clearly choosing the principles of conservation over the folly of politics for management of New Jersey’s natural resources.

Thanks to every outdoors-person who got involved in changing the status quo and for reminding Trenton that we should never again be marginalized by the extreme elements of society.

We will need to be ever vigilant and involved in the political process to ensure that our outdoor heritage is never again compromised by the relentless assaults from disaffected groups like NJARA, Animal Protection PAC, Humane USA, PETA, ALF and politicians the likes of Panter and Karcher.

I can assure you that these groups will be continuing their attempt to open the backdoors of Trenton.

We have seen first-hand the power of our vote! Make sure to enlist those that are not registered so that they will make a difference in elections to come.

Good fishing, hunting, trapping, shooting, kayaking, etc.  - and thanks to all the conservationists that make it possible for us to enjoy the outdoors!

Ant.

"Un Million the Gracias".  A million thanks for getting all the sportsmen and sportswomen together to fight the first battle of a long war. A strong and powerful message has been send to Trenton via the sportsman and Sportswomen of the state. I hope it was very well received.

Again thank you all for getting out there and voting.

A very special THANK's to you Ant for all of your hard work and dedication to this, for without your dedication and commitment this would not have been possible, and a BIG Thank You to all of our brothers and sisters in (camo and orange) and their families for making this happen. Ant and Jerry, thanks so very much for fighting the good fight and winning this battle.  The outdoors people need as much press as possible about this win. The fact that outdoors people all over the state are out there TODAY and TOMORROW and the next day, enjoying the great outdoors of this state. The fact that anyone in this state can freely enjoy the outdoors, form friendships, explore the woods, fields, and waters that we all share, hunt and fish and bring to the table from God's bounty. The anti's want to take AWAY these rights. Our outdoors voters showed that we desire to SHARE this FREEDOM with ALL people. Anti's lost because they are single minded in taking away these freedoms to force people to see things ONLY their way, the wrong way.  An outdoors person views the world where anyone can enjoy the outdoors, anti or otherwise. An anti would rather take away that freedom while developers laugh all the way to the bank as our outdoors are lost forever to the next big money making scheme.

Thank you Ant, MTH, Stronski, and all others who worked for and with the NJOA. I posted this on another thread but we have to keep the pressure on with so many threats to our sporting heritage.

While this fight is not over, there will be another fight on another front coming very soon.  This involves the future of the recreational fluke fishery here in NJ.  If you were not aware, the recreational fluke fishery is the largest salwater fishery here in NJ having what some argue the largest economic impact of all the fisheries.  The NMFS and its counterparts are seeking to again drastcially cut back if not eliminate totally, the recreational landings within NJ.  A combination of flawed sicence, unrealistic bio-mass goals, and lobbying by radical environmental organizations have brought us to this crossroads.  I was very impressed with the unity displayed between anglers and hunters in the face of this threat.  In the future I hope we can continue to show solidarity and use our combined forces to continue to fight against those who wish to take away our right to fish and hunt.  I believe the next big battle will take place this winter into spring as the NMFS and others sit down to discuss next years fluke quota. We need to win this battle or we can say goodbye to fluke fishing and possibly see further closures with other species.

And, don't forget about Reed Gusciora, he has introduced anti bills in the past.

And, as NJ Bowhntr pointed out, Anthony Chiappone from Bayonne is back.

Thanks for your efforts.  There were many like me who were informed by you and inspired to vote and spread the word.  You did a great thing and probably will never realize the amount of people you reached.

Thank you Ant and the rest of the NJOA workers/sponsors. This is truly a big victory, but of course, more work has to be done.

I am sorry that the voters in my district (38) did not choose wisely as Gordon and Voss were still voted in.  Add to that list ASW Wagner who ran with them.
