Now that is a great 8 pointer! Congrats

My buddy is good friends with that guy and from what I hear he's quite the monster deer slayer. That buck is a small one compared to some of the monsters he's taken in recent years.

Great deer.  This is a good example of what types of quality bucks we could get state wide if we had an older age class buck population.  Let them go and let them grow.

Agreed, only problem is that this is NJ and by and large the prevailing attitude is that to be a hero you must fill your buck tag no matter what the buck size. It's that old school BS mentality that proclaims that you are not truly a man unless you shoot your buck.

How many guys fill their buck tags the last few days of a season with scrapper bucks just because they have the buck tags. Those are the same guys that say well NJ will never be a trophy state so I may as well shoot a dinker. Until the fundamental attitude of sportsmen changes NJ will indeed never be a trophy state. I truly don't understand why it's so hard for some guys to just shoot a friggin doe if they want some venison rather than the scrapper bucks. That's why I'd love to see the buck tags reduced to 1 or 2 (1 bow 1 gun), but again, since this is NJ I do realize that that is just plain delusional for me to think that would ever happen.

Don't get me wrong, I'd expect to see the guys with less experience shooting whatever bucks they want, but to see the seasoned veterans shooting dinker after dinker, year after year, just to say hey look at me I got a buck! Is just plain ridiculous.

NJ could produce magnificent bucks like the one Barry shot on a consistent basis, but it's up to the Sportsmen of this state to make it happen...

Well I like to wait myself but ,in the end I will shoot a buck .I hunt on public land I am not saving them for the gun clubs for six-day firearm. I used to hunt the exact same area barry did until it was posted 15 years ago. If i hunted still in that prime area I would wait the hunt out for the big one also!

thanks for all the positive input to all nj members. this is actually a mature management buck and year in different places, passed up several close to 140.we all have different needs, this is the level i'm at and don't put down any bow kill down.the season never ends for me,filming is just as good and helping friends get big deer.they know i'm full force till i have a 140 plus each year.i get pumped up ,if not more when my friends score.good luck to everyone. BARRY    p.s. thanks for posting rich
