NJ Hunter / New Jersey Hunting / Road Survey / Witnessed a skull cap and run..

I could care less if someone takes the antlers off a road kill. Maybe they are going to use it to make rattling horns or cabinet handles, ect. It's better than having them end up rotting in a dump site or in some cops garage.

Vince if the first quote is correct then your daughter was raised with hunting being a way of life.

I would think she would be ok with hunting and realise that the deer in the road was already dead and removing the antlers caused no harm to anyone.

If there were buzzards eating at the rotting flesh would you have stoped to watch?  Would that have been hard to explain?

I really do not see anything in his post accusing licensed hunters of doing this?

So....

If licensed hunters had absolutely nothing to do with his accusation of illegal activity...why are you supporting his associating this activity with this board...

Maybe the same reason I support people stating how much the Lotto jackpot is or posting pics of their game meals....
Are you insane with that question? All the guy did was state what he saw.

Yes that is true! Except it's not making money I am against. It's raping hunters for it!

NO...that is exactly not what he did...

He made a point of stating that he subjected his daughter to watching an illegal activity happen.

Then, admitted that he was not interested in involving himself with reporting it to the authorities...

Then posted it here...as if this was the place where such activity is needs to be adressed...

Welcome to NJHunter.com Vince66.  I apologize for some of the members on here.  With everything that is going on with bills 3275 and 2041, some of the members here are a bit anti paranoid.

It's a great site.  I've learned a lot here and the majority of the members are fantastic people.

Stick around.

Chris,

That is what 90% of Americas hunters feels. The other 10% are the self righteous folks who never knew what it was to live an areas where dusty poachers were never a concern.

Conservation is the wise use of a natural resource.  What you and your daughter witnessed is just that.

JC, maybe you should read a little more carefully before commenting..
Where in my post did i say  that i wasnt interested in involving myself with the authorities ??..I said i didnt call them because i wasnt sure if what they were doing was legal or not..And for the record..I didnt subject my daughter to watching what unfolded..She was just as curious as i was as to what was going on..In fact she even saw the deer on the roadside before i did..I dunno who pi$$ed in your corn flakes this morning but you really need to ease up.. Someone might mistaken you for being rude..

You are not the first one that has accepted a road kill and made use of it...nor will you be the last that takes it in stride....

saw a deer on 287 or 78 yesterday, i forget which one, that was caped.  the wife was like "it still had it's head on".  but i had to tell her "look at the top of its head, you can see it's brains".  skull was caped.

They should have atleast dragged the deer off the road so there is less of a chance people would have seen them.
I have yet to see something like this happen, i travel 78 everyday now, so i am sure i will one day.

I really dont care if they take the antlers .They are only going to trash the buck anyway. As ,long as it was road kill .But also, did this guy purchase a buck stub. 28.00

Why is it hard to convinve her of the importance of hunting?  All you have to do is involve her if she is interested.  And if she is not interested at least present her with the facts about hunting and conservation.  If you cant find the words yourself to explain the need for hunting, then buy either of Ant Mauro's books and let her read for herself. Also in those books are the wonders of a family that hunts together!
