Hey guys, it's been great reading the stories on hear, and seeing the pics of the deer taken here, and I didn't think I would get to hunt this year myself, but next weekend will be my first one out.
My wife had our second child a few weeks ago born Oct 5, our second girl, and with 2 young kids it's been hard to find the time to get out to woods. Not to mention we are having an addition built on our house, and it should've been done in September, but needless to say the work has gone overtime, and we still have a few weeks left of work to be finished. So anyway I thought before the season started I would'nt have any time to hunt this year with the new baby, and putting my house back together (cleaning up, painting, getting furniture)and althought it killed me to have to give up the season, family responsibilites took first priority. Well, now that the contractor is behind and there is nothing for me do with my free time, I can go hang from a tree with bow in hand and hunt some rutting bucks. I will be out next weekend in NY state for the first time all year. I never did buy my NJ license, but I have a lifetime NY license so I will be going up there this weekend and then the next few weeks after that. Rifle season starts in NY 11/17 and I will be hunting those weekends as well. Thanks for reading this, I'm just pumped and way too excited to have a chance this year to hunt. I haven't missed a season in 18 yrs. I was going through withdrawal reading all your posts and seeing all your pics. Good luck to everyone on here. Be safe. |

I certainly know how hard it is to get out with kids. I have 2 young daughters and I certainly do not get out as often as I would like. I still manage to get in a couple of morning or afternoon sits per week. Good luck upstate
