Thanks guys for the responses.  Jamesburg county park its in middlesex county it touches spotswood, helmetta, monroe.  I herd from guys on here that the park is shot to S*** and after spending some time there it sure seems like it is.  I was thinking about trying assunpink or turkey swamp but do people usually deer hunt those parks?

I've hunted Jamesburg Park....some really big bucks in there, but the deer are few are far between. Alot of guys hunt off of Old Stage Rd. near the dog kennels. Try over that way.

There are some other spots in the area. I'm from Old Bridge. Send me a PM and we'll talk

My suggestion is, being that your new to this sport get out of it quick before you get hooked and it ends up costing you to loose your home because you cant keep up with the 2nd mortgage you need to take out to buy all your permits just to hunt. I think it climbing real close to the top of the list of most expensive hobbys/sports to get involved in.

Hey Lungbuster,
I live in Jamesburg Park and have been hunting it for
33yrs. I've taken some decent bucks there in the past. These days, after the murder all the does program, it is real tough. Also, with the great white corn dumpers changing the travel routes by  dumping a new corn pile here and there you can't pattern the deer. I just found a new mountain of corn just about 75 yds in off of Port St. Here's a real go getter for ya. Walked in 75 yds. and dumped 50lbs. and goes "hunting". B.S. is all that is.In my experience in Jamesburg Park, the deer don't use the same trails any two days in a row. The Park is long and narrow and the deer are spread out quite a bit. You need a lot of patience to hunt there. I'm to stubborn to stop. Also the dopes that hunt with a bad wind direction, and the quads that are tearing the place up, turn the deer nocturnal. I've seen does coming out of the swamp at 8:30 PM! It's been dark for almost three hrs and they are just coming from the swamps to got to feed. I've passed them many times on the road. Good luck and don't give up.

You need to look for deer sign first no matter where you go. Tracks , droppings, beds and then find your trails and travel routes and what they are eating. No matter where you go if no sign there's not any deer or not many at best. There's so many places to go it's rediculas in NJ. But just because you didn't see any deer there's others things you have to figure out to find deer. Your only as good as your spot. Remember that. If you have deer or not.Good Luck. Look in the copernium the NJ regulations book for places to hunt in the zone your wanting to hunt. Land trusts look up as well and you'll get ideas.
