Hunted my stand in zone 5 today that I had repositioned Sunday and freshly baited. Was about to walk out the door at 330 and it started pouring like a mofo so I put everything away. But by 415 the rain had stopped and the sun was shining through so I got all my gear together again and went out. Windy day 10-15mph the whole time but never started raining again. No movement until about 630 when 2 small does came into the bait(100lbs of corn and a bag of acorn rage). Then I noticed a larger deer coming in but it stayed back roughly 40-50 yards. Never got to see the head but I think it was a decent buck from how sneaky it was being. Watched it stand there for 2-3 minuted then looked away for a moment and it was gone. Then a couple minutes later back up from where it had come from I heard some crashing and saw 2 or 3 deer moving. Sounded like what I'm pretty sure was antlers clashing. Then saw one of the deer bolting away with the other chasing it. Never got to see what they were but I think it was 2 decent bucks fighting. Tried grunting but they had already taken off along with the 2 small does and that was the end of my night as it had gotten almost completely dark. Thinkin the pre-rut is gettin going. Contemplating making a mock-scrape by my stand tomorrow when I go to check my trail cam pics from the new Moultrie 4.0 I set up sunday.

My father in law said he has seen some chasing going on already. I guess it will be starting soon since the rut is around halloween this year. over the weekend I saw 2 fresh scrapes where there had been 0 the wednesday before. hard to fathom given the extremely unseasonal weather. I've read that early scraping is done mostly by immature bucks, but it was nice to see. saw a young 7 point. should be a good one next year. high hopes with thos cold front approaching.

Went out this morning after a seven pointer I have seen and would like to take out of my area. Got in at around 6am and sat for about 20 mins when I saw four does running around behind me at 90 yards. All of a sudden there was a large body four pointer and he was chasing thme, which as mentioned above the boys are feeling a bit frisky)) Anyway, I grunted a couple of times and brought him in right under the stand were he hung out for 20 mins trying to figure out were the grunts came from. After he walked away I got out to put my kids on the bus. Hope to get the seven later this week. had a good night.. saw 11 does. And one made into the truck.. Will post story in a minute under zone 14.. Had A fever this morning, but sucked it up for the front coming in!

I didn't see anything. I checked my trail cam and the last deer that came in was on the 4th at 9:50 pm. I put down some corn and i'll be back tomorrow. Checked my trail cam today... About 40 pics since I put it up Sunday afternoon and all does. Not one buck. Made a mock scrape right in line with the cam covering the bait so hopefully I'll get something on there next time with some horns...
