NJ Hunter / New Jersey Deer, Bear & Turkey Hunting / Deer Action / Deer Zone 51 / To the thief who stole my trail cam from Howell

Hey, nice to see the message boards alive again and thank you for all the support. That’s why I like this site I’m just sorry it had to be under these circumstances. From what I found out from talking with my father there were two guys walking on the property one was in full camo and  while talking to my dad he was asking about hunting spots in the area. Where he could hunt, why certain land owners who he named specifically wouldn’t allow hunters on there land. He Said he was looking for township owned land that was just recently opened for hunting along 547. He said his friend was on the other side of the woods. (side where my cam was stolen) Now I’m not saying these guys stole my camera but its just odd that the same day my camera went missing. Just want people to be aware of this incident. Maybe it will protect someone else’s property.

I had the original Camtracker stolen from me years ago it was my college graduation, christmas and birthday present combined, cost my parents 450$.  It was stolen on or near july 4 of third year, still cant believe another hunter would do something like that.  I never steal stands, steps or cameras.

Monmouth over the years of haveing private land on & off I have found neccesary that when you catch a tresspasser you have to walk them back to their car. years ago I had a farm that butted against a stocked WMA & you should have heard the words that came out of ppl's mouth when I wrote down their tag #'s. If they won't take you back to where they parked call the cops.

I had a game warden take my climber in Virginia, when I went to my stand, I found his card with a note on the back that he had taken my stand and where to contact him. This was on private property, he claims that he thought it may have been forgotten, sounds like a BS story to me, but I at least got it back.

Game warden might have received a report about trespassers in the area...and suspected it belonged to one.  That's what is sounds like to me.

Would it be so hard for the camera makers to simply password protect the cameras?  Maybe people wouldn't steal them if they were unusable because you have to enter a security code upon start-up.

Thats a good idea they should do that. But if your camera is stolen you might go buy a new one giving the company more money.

Ahhh, good point.  We have to convince them that the theft of cameras keeps people from buying them (for fear of having them stolen).
