NJ Hunter / New Jersey Politics & Guns / NJ Firearms ID Card / Hangun Permit Question for LEO's/TJC

Okay, so I picked up my FID and 3 handgun permits on Monday.  On one of my permits, the Chief signed where I was supposed to, so, he used white out on his signature, even on the carbons, and re-signed in the correct space.  When I was was signing the permits, the officer handed me the one with the white out first and said sign here.  To which I replied, "Where the white out is?"  He said yes.  My question is, for such a lengthy process with all the backgroud checks, and fingerprints, etc., is white out on the permit okay?  Is it going to cause problems when I actually buy something?  Just seems to me a new permit should have been filled out.  If it's okay, so be it.  Thanks.

I sure don't know ....

but I deal with official, legal documents all the time in my dealings with NJ DOT, and whiteout is never used.

Depending on the document, we either start a new document, or only cross out the incorrect information with single line.

Whiteout doesn't make any sense to me.

But, what do I know?

btw .... what kind of 1911 are ya getting?

This sounds like laziness.  Whiteout is completely unacceptable on official forms since a sharp razorblade and a couple of minutes of effort and you can't even tell the whiteout was there.

Thanks, I agree.  That's why I asked; I work in a FDA/GMP laboratory environment, so all mistakes are crossed out with a single line, dated and initialed with a comment.  It seems to me something as important and official as a handgun permit should not have white out on it.  But, the officer gave me the impression it was not the first time one was signed in the wrong place.  It was only later that I really started thinking about it, I was excited just to finally get the paperwork.

As for what 1911; I have been weighing options for the last several months while waiting for the paperwork, trying to decide.  I'm weighing the pros/cons of Springfield, Smith and Wesson, Kimber and I really like the Dan Wesson PM7.  I'm going to shop around this weekend and see who has what.  Not to get off topic, but if anyone has any insight into a good choice, I'd like to hear it.
