Well, I'll be tossing and turning all night.......Here's the story: Today I decided I would get out in the woods after work. I haven't had much luck lately with my normal spots so I headed to a special spot I have over by the Gap. I got there by 4 and start to get dressed in my camo., pull my treestand out and my Bow and start looking for my scent-away spray..............can't find it! I remember my wife used my car this weekend and moved some stuff out, well she got the spray!
Anyway, I start my 1/2 mile walk to the tree I need to set up in. The wind is GREAT today, stiff and consistent and blowing in the perfect direction. I get up my tree no problem and the wait starts............Its getting close to dark and I haven't seen anything but a bunch of geese. Just as I stand up to stretch 3 big does and 3 fawns come out of the corner of the field. They clear some branches and I zero in on the lead doe. I put my 20 yd. pin on her and let her fly, THWACK! I hit her, but as I released my arrow, she jumped the string and it looked like it hit a little far back. She runs 35 yards and jumps back in the woods.
I wait ten minutes and climb down, by now it is dark and I fish out the trusty old flashlight. I find my arrow quickly and ther is some blood, muscle tissue and hair. I start off from that point and look for an hour and a half. I find 4 drops of blood before I hit the woods where she went in. I step one foot in and jump her.
I didn't want to but I backed off in my best interest. I will be there a sunup to find her.
I hate not finding a deer, but I know I will find her tomorrow, hopefully in one piece. The yotes and bears are insane there. So like I said at the beginning, a sleepless night ahead.........

I'm sure you will find her man, best of luck when you head up there tomorrow.

There is minimal blood (dark and consistent) Def muscle tissue and unfortunatly short white and brown hairs. I'm thinking back and low......

If you have white...you are low somewhere on the bottom 1/3rd of the deer, not necessarily bad.

Dark blood is somewhat conflicting...muscle hits are usually bright red, as is lungs but with bubbles.

Any sediment on the arrow?  Any smell of stomach contents?

Good guide that's been posted before, but might be helpful tomorrow and tonight:

How did she run off?  Front of the rear leg?  Could be low liver too.

Dark blood, I was thinking liver...but white hair....20 yard shot...how high up were you?  Steep enough angle and you could have entered at the liver and exited low enough to hit some white hairs.

If liver, she'll be down when you get her in the AM for sure...usually within the hour.  Sounded like you were right on her due to bear/yote concerns...but I'd try to wait at least 30 min bare minumum if you can next time.
