Doesn't seem to be many guys posting here in zone 19? I was posting a reply about who is hunting the barrens when I realized it was from last year. LOL.
I was out Friday night. Had a fawn run in at 4:30pm and skid to a stop and fed in front of me for 10 minutes. She proceeded to browse toward me until she found a nice spot directly under my tree to bed down for an hour and 30 minutes! As the front pushed through around 6:30pm the wind started gusting to 30 mph. Had a few sets of does come in very wary but no bucks. Last 15 minutes before dark I had no activity which is rare, but between the full moon and the strong winds, the odds were against me. Back out tonight. |

I didn't see anything on Friday evening, sat morning, or sat night.
Full moon, oaks tore up. Maybe go out sometime this week. I haven't seen much in Zone 19. I've bumped some bedded down going in. Doesn't seem like white oaks have any acorns this year. I don't know if that is the lack of rain or gypsy moths or both. Red oaks are dropping them, but they don't draw the deer in hot weather. Squirrels are going nuts though.
I hunted a spot in Bear Swamp Friday morning and Saturday night, saw someone had dragged out a deer Saturday morning. My luck 
I'm still up for meeting up Friday mornings. |

There seems to be private lands that are heavily hunted (and probably baited) all around it. Especially between the preserve lands and the agricultural fields. Lots of chiggers too

Have had a few more slow hunts with deer showing at last light, too dark to even make out horns. Cameras showing a few shooter bucks during daylight but no pattern. This southerly flow is killing me! Oct 4th and 86 degrees. Buddy shot an 8 on the edge of Bear Swamp Saturday night and we couldn't recover after 4 1/2 hours of looking. The chiggers are definitely thick still, wasn't prepared clothing wise and now have the bleeding itchy sores to prove it. 
Central jersey doesn't seem to be as slow as down here, I know of two monsters shot in the last two nights. We need a good cold front and some rain! |

Dawn, I have to work too  Next Friday I will probably be going up to NY for the bow opener. They have had rain, and it is colder in the mountains. Hopefully, the deer will be moving a bit. Might try Hunterdon county on the way up, or maybe SE NY for turkey. So many options now with ducks, turkey, deer, small game.
