So after a late start monday and having to back out as to not scare the deer, i went back tonight (had one of them feelings that tonight was the night) Got into the tree around 4 this is the first time i've hunted this tree but i have a pretty good idea on where they're going to come from. 430 have a doe step out in front of me and working her way through the laurels to the oaks. She gets about 30 yards away and presents a beautiful broadside shot and i whiff it. She jumps and scoots about 15 yards and isn't completely freaked but not real sure about what happened so she heads on her way instead of staying to see what might happen. After she leaves i angrily climb down to get my arrow and make sure there is no blood or hair or anything (i watched the arrow go underneath her) and there isn't. So i climb back in the tree and text message my buddy about how much i suck and he whole heartily agrees. Then another doe steps out. She comes in even closer and i nailer her at 20 yards quartering away. So i text message back i didn't miss the second one!! She stepped and i don't know how i managed it but i hit her through the hind quarter and still double lunged her without hitting the gut. She only went 30-40 yards and fell. It made for an easy track and my first deer of fall 2007. I'll post pics in the morning as after a hot shower, a couple cocktails and a good dinner i'm whooped and ready for bed. __________________ Fat Cat Sportfishing
