Did the arrow smell?  Any blood on the arrow?  What color hair did you find at the hit site?

I love how I get hammered for shooting a spotted deer...ONE WHICH I RECOVERED BECAUSE I PUT A GREAT SHOT ON and yet there is no outrage about this...unbelievable...

Going to have to agree here. 2 No No's Clear shot was not there and it was really not light enough to shoot. I would have passed on this one she would have been back.

Gutshot your shot was a gut shot it was probably low in the pounch this is why there was allot of Blood I am sure she is down but about 100-150 yards from where you shot her unless you pushed her farther by tracking her. Check by water if there is any in the area they try to make it to water when they are gut shot. Next time if I were you I would pass on a shot like that and wait for a clear shot and during better light if you have to guess your shot it should not be taken.!

Check the opposite side of the field from where you lost the trail. That's where you'll either find her or pick the trail back up. Pick out a landmark, and walk right to it. If you pushed her she probably made a bee line right across that field. If you hit her in the body, she's done for. Just go find her.

P.S. Gentlemen, lets not castigate him, what's done is done. We owe it to the animal to help him recover her.

I wonder if this is a common thing for Gutshot.  We can only assume since he named HIMSELF.

On the other hand...He who lives ina glass house should not throw stones.  We have all been there, either personally or with friends.

You gut shot the deer. Not for nothing but I have a friend who gut shoots almost every deer he shoots at. He always blames it on something else, but it is his fault. I know it happens, but there is things you can do to avoid it, like practice. I hope you find the deer and can salvage the meat.

ther was plenty of light, the problem was the tree casted a shadow witch made it hard to see  the hit . now back to the question --know the arrow did not smell like  you know what  all it had on it was a clear liquid rite down to the vanes

Of all possible screen names...why would you pick gutshot?
Posted:  17 Sep 2007 4:48 PM
You hit it to far back, now you know to aim more to the front wheret the heart and lungs are. You should have waited about 6 hrs before heading after it with a shot like that.  We've all have been there , now learn from your mistake.

Do you remember the deer humping up when the arrow hit her? Look for the deer around water, she will try to drink and laydown after she starts to get sick. You pushed the animal maybe. What did the hairs on the arrow look like?

The clear or semi transparent liquid is from a section of the intestines. Hence a GUT shot. This has happened to me in my 20+ years of hunting. It suxs and you should do all you can to keep it from happening again. I dont mean to come down on you, but there is too many guys out there today who just dont give a crap to change their bad habits.
