I use chigger-X.  You can pick it up at any pharmacy.  It works OK at taking some of the itch away but once you have chigger bites the only real thing that will make it better is time.  They suck bad.  Sorry to hear you have em...

Get chigg away. They sell it in most sporting goods stores. Same stuff the military uses, works great!

Myths About Chiggers

One of the biggest myths or misconceptions about chiggers is that they can burrow under your skin and drink your blood. This leads to the common treatment for chiggers of putting clear nail polish on chigger bites to suffocate the chiggers. Since chiggers don't actually burrow under your skin, this 'treatment' is unnecessary

Treatments for Chigger Bites

While nail polish isn't a good treatment for chigger bites, anything that can help control the itching can be helpful, including:
take a bath or shower as soon as possible after any possible exposure to chiggers
apply your favorite OTC anti-itch medication, such as hydrocortisone, Calamine lotion, Sarna, oatmeal baths, etc.
oral Benadryl
a prescription strength steroid cream
Although chiggers in North America don't usually carry any diseases, the bites themselves can get infected.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me and my father got'em bad one season. i saw my doctor he gave me a ointment. My father decided to scratch them and pour white vinegar on them. He infected every hair folicle on his legs.
Once you got them put some kind of ointment to stop the itch. To prevent they're alot of different products out there. Get a pair of high rubber boots they help tremendously.

Maybe RID or NIX.

One of my spots in Monmouth has chiggers. They suck. I'll be hunting in Morris/Warren/Hunderton until it gets cold out and they are not an issue.

I've never heard of chigger-x so I don't know if it works. I react badly to any kind of bug bites and I've found that black drawing salve helps a lot to get out the stuff from the chiggers that causes the itching (saliva?) faster and helps keep you from being as itchy. The problem with it is that it will get on your clothes and sheets. Smear it on good every night before bedtime, put on a pair of long johns you don't care too much about, and get a good night's sleep. You will wake up smelling of motor oil but you will at least be able to sleep in peace. The bites will heal a lot sooner than they would on their own. RID and Nix will kill live chiggers, anything with pyrethrin or permethrin (even a good dog shampoo for ticks) will kill them. The first thing we do when we get chiggers is jump in the shower with the dog shampoo

You could probably put some saran wrap over that stuff so it doesn't get all over the bed and clothes.
arachyd.. where can you find "black drawing salve"..drugstore?

This may sound crazy but it does work .

Extra Strength Ben-gay . Put it on a little heavy and work it in . It gets a little hot at first but when it cools it feels so GOOD .

Do not get it around the private parts .

Nothing will get rid of them some things just help them feel better .

My off the wall great aunt used nail polish remover

Rubiing alcohol or Peroxid.. does numbers on the ..or brown soap...same stuff for poison ivy..

if you get them on your legs or arms, saran wrap works. Wrap your areas tight and soffocate them takes one night. works.

i feel your pain i currently have ~200 chigger bites on me.  I got torn a new one this weekend.  Water from the hudson canyon works well on them.  Fortunately i'm headed that way this weekend.

Rub icy hot or ben gay on the bites  and then wrap them up with plastic wrap to allow it to soak in

The best cure is to hunt in Northern NJ.  We don't have chiggers up here.

Lucky you,  I have been chiggered up a few times.  Hate them.  My grandfather once told me a long time ago to wear pantyhose,  I cant bring myself to do it.

Right, bc if they were under your skin, they wouldnt need to breathe.

I guess it's the same idea as Rhino or Bugskins that they have out now.
