I must say i hate this eab program. Tonight while on stand i had a massive 6 pointer at 20 yards for 10 minutes. I should have killed this deer. It most likely will be the only time i will see him.

They should at least make it that you need to shoot a doe before permit bow season. Then they still get thier does shot and we could harvest those bucks first, And let the babys loose thier spots before we orphan them. COme permit bow if you shot a buck during fall and not a doe then you need to get a doe first.

last year i missed my doe and that same day a four point in velvet bedded down right in front of me b

OK Try this one out, This is right up New Jersey's alley.

They let us have the option to shot a buck first in the  early season, and if you don't shot a doe by the end of fall bow they send you a fine in the mail for $28. If you don't pay it the computer will shut you down from getting next years license.

Hows that for a new, New Jersey law? Damn sounds like I should be on the council.

Not a bad idea but the fine would have to higher. The only down side would be the guy jacking a deer at night because he just could'nt buy a doe.

If you think about it the only hunters that would have to really worry about it are the ones who did their homework and are onto a nice buck. Sure you get a few guys who get lucky and have a nice buck walk up on them .

Others Will just shot a doe first and go on like normal.

Heres an idea to add to it. Make it a trophy buck option. It has to be at least an 18" spread. And if you don't pay attention and do your homework and you shoot something under, thats another fine that the check station has to send in with the paperwork. If an outfitter can hold these standards and be able to judge a deer why can't we. Hell how many guys have you heard on here tell you how many inches a buck was when they saw it on the back end of a 30 acre field I'm sure you can size a deer at 30 yards.

Just give 1 buck tag per season and let people use it when ever you want

Here is an idea if you don't like the EAB don't hunt in September.
Posted:  10 Sep 2007 10:17 PM
I had some really good bucks under me with no tag as well then I also had taken a fawn because of it the next deer that came to me for the tag in anger. A gorgus 6 wide and heavy came right to me one night and I was really angry with these tags.

Wouldn't be this problem of having to get forced into shooting the does first if more would take does regularly.

Guys you only have eab for the early season. If they did'nt have it guys would shoot their bucks in the first couple of days and not hunt until permit season. Once again throwing the buck to doe harvest numbers out of whack, which is what got us eab to begin with. I have had to pass up 3 P&Ys since eab came around. You know what OH well that is the price to pay to hunt such an early opener. I would love to see it go back to an end of Sept opener statewide and end all seasons by Jan 31st!

Jswany...I do want to say good job for passing on the VERY tempting shot.  There are a lot of "hunters" in this great state of ours that wouldn't have passed it up.

maybe you should be out now killing a doe instead of sitting on the computer and then you wont have that problem again.

I couldn't agree more. Do we really need to beat the herd to death starting in 90 degree heat all the way into February...we gotta lighten up, and there will still be plenty to go around while accomplishing management objectives.
