I agree, Lou Cassidy In Monroeville. I've been going there for years and even when SG season kicks in and he is swamped the work gets done on time.

If you take Rt 40 to the circle, take 77 twds Mullica Hill.  I'm pretty sure the road you want is the first left.  He's on the left just after the turn.  You'll see a large white pole barn that is his shop.  It's next to the house.

Haven't used Footes for years myself When they make sausage they waited till they had a lot to make and threw it all together so you got someone elses meat. That and I used to get a lot of hair from them. Hair makes your meat real gamy. The guys at Bringherst told me they do the same thing for their sausage.

When I go to Lou I get MY meat not someones deer that hung for a week in their barn. And his packaging is second to none.

If Doug (NJhntr) would chime in. He had the number to a guy I used in Seabrook for some slimjims. We had posted about it last winter.

There's also a butcher shop in Gloucester Township called Edlen's Meats.  They do deer, hogs or any other game you bring them.  They have a smokehouse as well and do slim jims...  They vacuum seal and label everything for you as well.

In all the years we've used them, only once did I find a hair in the meat.  As for the sausage, its always been top notch and I knoew once, it couldnt be meat from any deer but mind, because I killed the deer in the Delaware season, before the NJ season even started.  Im just saying my experiances have been positive and its a choice.  Hell, sometimes the guys attitude has really rubbed me the wrong way, but I go back because the meat has always been good.  Take it for what ist worth.

Scott, there are plenty around here. We gotta get together anyway, so PM me and I'll show you a few.

Lou Cassaday in Monroeville does good work, and the Buck Stop by Parvins State Park does a nice job too. In my opinion, Lou makes better sausage than the Buckstop, but if you take boned meat to either Serra in Vineland on Park Ave, or JAMAR on the Blvd between Newfield and Vineland, you will get an excellent product. I like JAMAR better. Jimmy does a GREAT job, and he is a bit cheaper than Serra's. If you want specialty stuff like bolonga, jerky, smoked sausage, pepperoni, etc., you should go see Thorton Wilson in Quinton. He is right on Rt 49 at it's intersection with Brown Rd. He is a little pricey too, but worth it. I usually take a little meat to him each year. We don't eat alot of the specialty stuff and it's expensive to get a whole deer done like that, but it's nice to have some on hand for Christmas parties and such.

For smoked venison, I use Bonhams in Hopewell/Deerfield area. Wilson does that too, but his smoked venison is a little too strong for my tastes. I usually get a few front shoulders smoked at Bonhams each year for cutting in small pieces at parties too. You should try a few different ones out to see what suits you best.

This guy is right down the road from me and I never heard of him till now. Might have to check him out too.

Serra in Vineland on Park Ave

I thought he was on S. 3rd St.  Did he move?  Used to order pizza every friday at 11am on the nose.  He'd put his own sausage on it.

Yep. He moved to Park and I think it's West Ave. Used to be a Wawa there.

i had the same happen at Lou's. found sheared buckshot in mine, i used a slug on that deer. maybe my deer wandered off the 500ac block and came back with very shiny buck shot.
learn to do them yourself, i bone everything. i bought a grinder and make a ton of burger and steak the loins. cost is low, just add fat and seasonings.

I use A&M Meats in Mullica Hill Gloucester Co. right off rt. 45 , especially if I shoot a deer late in the day because if I call ahead they will open up since the guy lives next door to the place and they also check in the deer as well so that's a plus since most check in stations are closed after 6 or 7 oclock in my area and if it's still warm out , you gotta get the deer in the cooler box asap. I live in Turnersville so it's a half hour ride. Thier prices arent to bad either.

Bringhurst is ok but the hours dont work for me and they dont check the deer in , so you gotta find somewhere to do that first. They are a little pricey but do a professional job and have alot of specialty cuts and products availible.

I have used A&M, Lou Cassidy and Joe's Butcher shop in/near Rosenhayne ( Sp? ).

Lou does good work and his packaging is the best I've seen/had. However, he is a bit pricey. A&M has also opened up for me after/before hours,  I went to school with him and his bro at Clearview, good guy. Joe's in Rosenhayne was ok but took too long and the packaging was less than ideal.

I've done a few of my own and that seems to be the way to go.

I often wondered about Joes,  After the bridge is fixed that is about 10 min from the house I should be moving into shortly
