I am buying a pistol from a friend who is a NJ resident. I have my pistol permit. My question is do I need to have an FFL do the transfer or can I do it myself?
My answer would be I can do it myself with the top copy of the permit going to the State Police, the next copy to the local PD who issued it, one to me and one to the friend. Is this correct? Also, do I need to do a certificate of eligibility? Any other advise would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe |

| I answered my second question. On the Certificate of Eligibility it says, "(This form must be completed for each transfer of a Shotgun, Rifle, including black powder or BB Rifle)" It does not say handgun so no need. | ||
