as i type my first load of hunting clothes is in the washing machine. i broke out the long sleave tee shirts and light bdu's. the small back pack and the mesh back john deere hats in there also.
for the frugal, i(my wife forced this one me) tried a bunch of different scent free soaps. the one that stood out as the best is pure and natural from wal-mart. the package does list fragrance and the bar has a slight odor in the wrapper.(so does the green bars that cost $4 at Dick's) but it washes clean and leaves no scent behind. it is $.97 a bar.
so the games start now. scent free soaps, D.O., and the clothes get washed every saturday night in backing soda and scent free soap. this will go on till the end of january, all 4 months. out go the clothes in the woods, the climber will go out this weekend and it's time to start making some home brew scent eliminating spray.
god i love this time of year!

I leave mine out most of the season except when it calls for rain

Do you wash your clothes in BOTH baking soda and scent free soap ? I have a seperate washer/dryer that is ONLY for hunting clothes, totally stinks like the woods , but Ive never used baking soda. I wash my gear, place it in Tinks bags with a cover scent wafer and some pine branches, then place that in a rubber maid container. All hunting gear is stored in my scent blocked shead. Thats where I put on base layers after my scent shower. I put on my camo when I get to the farm. I never , ever track deer in scent blocked camo. I have regular cammies at the farm that I change into the track and dress. Its great to see that Im not the only other anal scent guy out there. Best of luck this season, bud !!

I'm pretty fanatical about being scent-free for deer season. I treat all my camo inside and out after using the scent killing laundry soap - even my face wrap (man that scent killer tastes nasty if you forget and lick your lips). I also cover my car seats in descented blankets for the ride to the woods and freshen them with scent killer every time I get in or out. My gun and bow cases are also treated. How do you make a "home brew" scent eliminating spray? I can't use pine needles because my spot doesn't have pine trees near it and it spooks the deer if they suddenly smell it where it doesn't belong.

ive never had an issue with using pine needles but u can take bunch of greens, sticks and whatever else you find in your woods, put them in a bag and boil them in water, once it reaches a boil, add some dirt. make sure its really watery though so the dirt doesnt make it mud. turn the heat off 30 seconds after adding the dirt. let it cool then strain it into something that you can use to transfer it into an old scent spray bottle. works really well and freakin stinks man. good idea with the blankets on teh seats, im going to use sheets as well, rather than spray my cars all down. when i turn the air on, my truck still smells like dirt

oh, i didnt mean u have to boil them in a bag, i meant use the bag to get them home. although you can use like cheese cloth so its not so messy. i have woods behind my house so i just walk out there and get the stuff. have u tried scent free gun cleaner ?

quit smoking! you'll be surprised how scent free you are. i use a scent free soap made for hunting clothes that dont have any UV brightners in them.
then i dry them outdoors (i have woods behind me and i wont pick up any foul odors when i do this.)

i use a spray that was on archerytalk
1 brown bottle of peroxide
1 bottle (same size) of distilled water
1/2 cup baking soda
1 tablespoon of scent free shampoo
mix well, let sit in a vented bottle for three days, it will make gas.
my recipe is a little different then the posted recipe.
