I heard many rumors about this fish. I just think the fish does not look very good something fishy about it and whats with the red tail? The fish looks rotten or old for some reason.
If she really caught it congrats but if not the truth will come out oneday. Until then congrats to her on a once in a lifetime fish. "For some strange reason she has caught alot of once in a lifetime fish?" ![]() __________________ Member UBNJ

Tough to imagine that with the millions of people who fish for both weakfish AND fluke that one person could catch the world record for both?
Not alledging anything, but really, really tough to imagine..., but then again, plenty of people hunt deer and most of the same people shoot the biggest deer each year. |

| Well I see you are all very impressed by this woman, I wouldn't be. Her brother is a dragger and all these fish she's posed with are fish that he's picked up in his nets. | ||

most of the same people shoot the biggest deer each year Hunters that shoot large deer use the same area from year to year and usually have the only access to it. Most is private land. Everyone has access to the same fishing grounds and with all of the boats that pound the same areas day after day the chances are very very slim that one person would catch more than one monster fish. A record fish is worth a lot of $$$ and if there is something strange about how it was caught then I'm sure the truth will come out. __________________ REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER

Any new updates on this fish? I heard she didnt get the record because she laid the pole down on the side of the boat. Something like you cant put the pole down at anytime. Also heard the rumor about the dragger __________________ NJH PRO STAFF >>--->

Monica Oswald, the Neptune nurse who was savaged in online discussion groups after she caught the largest summer flounder ever brought in with a rod and reel, has been denied a place in the record books. The International Game Fish Association said today that Oswald broke IGFA rules in August when she briefly rested her pole on the rail of her boat while wrestling with a 24.3-pound fluke off the coast of Monmouth County. __________________ UBNJ Sussex County Rep

I think the IGFA dropped the ball on this one. I understand the rule and it's meaning but she had no idea what she had and was only taking a breather. The rule is designed to stop people from using the vessel to catch large fish, which is the norm in Cape Cod when fishing for giants. But taking a breather...give me a break that fish should be the new record __________________ OSC

Why would people be pissed? Because they didn't catch it? All of the trouble started in cyberland where people hide behind their anonymity, and wouldn't have the kahuna's to open their mouths when it counts. The lady passed a lie detector test, and was the one who told the IFGA she rested the rod on the boat during the fight. If she had left that part out the IGFA would've recognized it as the record. The same thing happened to the guy who caught the world record striper a few years ago. He was harassed to the point where he wished he never caught the fish. Imagine that, catch a world record and than regret it! Jeez
For the record...I have never met the lady who caught the fish and wouldn't know her if I tripped over her. But I did read the demeaning things posted about her by others on several websites who knew nothing about her. The accusations made were criminal and completely fabricated. __________________ OSC

If they are than they will have act like adults and get over it. She had a witness on the boat with her. Had the fish photographed and weighted on a certified scale. Passed a lie detector test, and had all of her tackle and fishing methods cleared by the IFGA. What more do these small minded people want? If she didn't admit to resting her rod on the side of the boat that fish would be the new world record. Been fluking all of my life and as far as I'm concerned that fish is the record. It is the biggest ever taken by rod and reel. __________________ OSC
