was just checking out the harvest numbers for zone 21 2006 2007 season and they were about 50% lower than 2005 2006 season, I was floored, I knew it was a bad season, but not that bad.

It really was a weird season around my stands in 21.  I honestly only saw 3 does from my stands, from October thru January.  There were a lot of bucks in the area at night but they stayed away during the day.  I am not going to use bait this season at all.  I bet I'll see more deer.  I think that coyotes are part of the problem.  I saw three last season.  I am going to start hunting Colliers Mills a little this year but keep two of my 21 stands.  Hope this season is better.

i called it last year early on in those zones. its gonna take more than that help. the buck to doe ratio is actually out of whack in the zones. taking more does is usually the best thing but the number of deer has dropped so what do you do . im seeing more deer in general this year and i expect a better season but to recover to normal numbers i think is gonna take a few years.

Its all the clubs driving the hell out of them deer during buck week. Thats why the buck to doe ratio is out of whacked. Alot of guys i know that hunt in 21 would rather kill a spike buck then a doe.Start shooting the does guys. Its better for the herd.

I have had my camera out since mid august, 1 doe, no fawn, but I have had at least 6 different buck, one a big boy, the rest basket 6 points, most likley the spikes I past last season and saw 2 large buck out scouting in the same general chunk of woods my stands are in. deer limits are to liberal for the pines.

Baiting too much also !!!!!! The less bait you use the better for everyone.

I agree with that quote with reguards to zone 21.  Way too much bait in that zone.  Deer only move at night.  I'm not baiting this year.

too many chiggers in 21, no deer this year also. way to much bait and they come at dark. they are way to smart those deer.

i saw 5 deer the other night. using bait you have to hunt back off a bait near a good trail like 50-100yards. also  use a small 2 gallon pail and dont bait all the time.it keeps them looking. if you pile up the corn and re bait every day they will eat at night.rotate your stand sites and use the wind. since the state is too cheap to plant winter rye feed you need to change strategies.

My areas that I hunt are on the outskirts of the swamp behind the bird field.  There is no pressure out there even during six day.  The clubs don't want to walk thru that thick stuff.  There really is a lot of land in there that goes untouched year by year.  There is always buck sign everywhere I go.  Two seasons of trail cam show that bucks are very nocturnal in that area.  My cam is always placed on a scrape line and not where I am hunting.  I read online somewhere that when you bait you should use a large zip lock bag or a small coffee can full of corn.  Too much and the deer get cautious.  As far as that zone goes I won't bait there.  There are plenty of deer in there.  I'm going to hunt in zone 18 a mostly but during six day I will be back to 21.  I hope everyone has a better year than last.

zone 18 is a joke during 6 day, lots of driving gangs from that area.  been in greenwood a few times, seen more coyotes then deer.

the deer are so skiddish in 21. the other evening a squirrel popped out and the 2 deer under my stand ran so fast you would have thought they were drag racing.

if you hunt the whole week in 21 you will see that some of the clubs do get down and dirty and push through some of that heavy cover but middle of the week.that swamp is loaded with huckle berries, tea berries. cranberries early in the season.i seen lots of cotote tracks running down in the soft spots. they probably go in there and take there pick of fawns.

The clubs have come pretty close but nowhere near me. Yet!  I'm sure that will change.
